I might be in the wrong forum with this, but I was just wondering how many Studios have released films with Hardcore Sex in them. These are the ones I know of. R1 only of course.

Caligula (Unrated) also has hardcore sex but I'm not sure if they released it in the theaters unrated.

are you kidding, yes it was. Theatrically, The film carried a self imposed X-rating for years, it was only after it was doing great box office numbers that Penthouse submitted the film to the MPAA to secure an R-rating and release it to more theatres that wouldn't have originally shown an X-rated film. Theatrically (and the laserdisc/unrated VHS versions) had a running time of 148minutes, the current unrated DVD is 156 minutes (an even longer Canne's Film Festival cut supposedly shown at a running time of 210 minutes).

- "The Devil and the Flesh" has a BJ scene
- "The Piano Teacher" - features some hardcore sex scene from a sequence with a film within a film scene
- Paul Verhoeven's "Spetters" has the legendary penis measuring sequence. The film also contains both graphic (but not hardcore) sex and a violent gay rape sequence.
- "The Lover" borders very close to hardcore, the unrated version is a frame or two shy of simulated penetration.

not sure if this counts, but i remember hearing rumors that in Wild Orchid, Mickey Rourke and his co star and then girlfriend actually did it on film, and it i've never been sure. Looks pretty real..

....actually there were a few places in Chicago that showed it unrated.

If you dont have it....get the unrated version. Superb film!!

The theatrical run of Sex and Lucia here in DC, didn't have a MPAA rating. I remember the one-sheet stating 'no one under 18 admitted'

this type of controversy was even suggested in Nicolas Roeg's Don't Look Now'- rumour had it that outtakes from the love making scene between Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie were ultra-explicit.

I haven't seen it, but doesn't Roeg's Bad Timing: A Sensual Obsession contain graphic sex scenes.

Are you sure? From Ebert's review, all I got was that it has a ton of nudity. Also in the review's credits, it says it's rated-R. If there was hardcore sex in it, surely it would be X or un-rated.

I was mainly curious about some of the Foreign films Blue Underground & Media Blasters have released with "Contains Graphic Scenes Of A Sexual Nature" or something to that affect. I remember Patrick Still Lives had some kinda warning label like that

...erm... the general concensus (sp?) seems to be that during the (in)famous opening sequence Dalle and Anglade were most definitely 'getting it on'... in his commentary (on the DVD of the three-hour version of the movie - which Ebert did not see!) the director is rather coy about whether they did or did not...
