Film Fans Break Movie-Watching Record

Group Sits Through 66.5 Hours Of Movies

POSTED: 12:54 p.m. EST December 9, 2003

A group of film fanatics in New York have broken the Guinness record for non-stop movie watching, with a time of 66 hours and 30 minutes.

The group started by watching "Die Hard" and finished 35 movies later watching "Die Hard With a Vengeance," breaking the old record of 66 hours and 17 minutes.

Only 11 of the original 20 in the group finished the endurance feat, which ended on Monday morning.

Participants had to watch without diverting their eyes from the screen or falling asleep.

There were some brief bathroom breaks along the way.

I usually get bored after watching just one movie!

A line in a book is the only fame these wackos are going to get. I guess their parents didn't pay enough attention to them in childhood.

The same group also holds the record for longest time without sexual contact.

Wait: They are going from Amélie/Pulp Fiction to My Boss' Daughter/A Man Apart/ Charlie's Angels 2/Bulletproof Monk?

Wow. And I thought some of the choices I made in movie watching were brave.

That's a killer list. All the Alien movies in a row. Plan 9, My Boss's daughter. Ouch.

I wonder how strict this rule was? I could understand not sitting there playing a Gameboy or reading a book, but are you allowed to turn away for a few seconds to get a kink out of your neck? Or if someone farts, natural reflex is to turn and see who dealt it.

Ok, whoever chose these at the end is obviously a sadist, or doesn't want the record broken.

They 'only' need to see 8 more movies.
At this moment they are watching a surprise-movie (a sneak-preview). Not sure what movie it is.
Several hours ago, there were still 23 people left. No too bad as there were 92 people who started this record attempt.
