Bands that sound like...

Are there any underground/lesser known bands that have a Linkin Park sound?

This thread can also be used to request similar bands of any genre...I got good use out of another thread that requested anyone who liked Evanesance to listen to Lacuna Coil, After Forever, and a few more and I really liked the music...

Faith No More. Go buy (download) King for a Day/Fool for a Lifetime.
Nothing like Linkin Park, but a "rock" band with a "hiphopish" vocalist.

Linkin Park fans should go and get some Faith No More. Not because they sound anything alike, but because they are much, much better.

What a stupid question, everyone knows it was Limp Bizcuit.

Faith has been doing the rap/metal/funk since about 1986, so long before Rage.

Faith No More is considered rap/rock because of 3 or 4 songs, but most of their stuff is not like that.

"who do you credit with the rock meets rap?"

Aerosmith vs. Run DMC, no band inparticular.

"Faith No More is considered rap/rock because of 3 or 4 songs, but most of their stuff is not like that."

They had many different genres on their albums, so they can't really be classified as anything and have that stay true for the whole album, let alone their whole career.

I'd say the Anthrax/Public Enemy collaboration "Bring The Noise" was the first real Metal-Rap hybrid. Aerosmith-DMC was a rap song with a guitar riff and rock chorus... certainly innovative, but they didn't take it to quite the level Anthrax did.

There is not a bit of rap in either Living Colour's or Fishbone's catalog. Just because they are black, doesn't mean they rap.

I would go so far as to say Run DMC in general.
While Walk This Way was the biggest hit they had, they'd been using rock samples and guitars since their first album.

Apartment 26 sort of sounds like Linkin Park, but without the rap.

that's one big jump to a conclusion. i didn't see anyone in the thread suggest that.

--------

as for the question at hand, maybe you should be asking "which bands do linkin park sound like?"

Actually I agree with cdollaz, why else would you mention two of the biggest black rock bands. They have as much to do with the rap-rock hybrid as Deicide does.

Got to agree as well...why else would that statement be made?

your agreeance is basically moot, considering the poster hasn't actually suggested what he/she means. maybe it was just a stab in the dark. what i'm getting at is this: whether or not custom001 assumed those bands had rap in their music because they're black isn't known, since custom001 never said this.

like i said, it seems like a bit of an unnecessary jump to a conclusion, given the lack of evidence to support the claim.

yeah but the thread is asking for music that sounds like Linkin Park(which is catergorize as rap/rock hybrid), so then when custom001 posted those bands it is assumed that he meant they have a rap/rock mix, which they don't that is like me coming in here saying buy Bubba Sparxxxs' new album, because he raps
