I figured this would bomb until about a week ago when I heard a bunch of college age girls talking about how much they wanted to see this. It's not so surprising considering there's not much else catering to a teen crowd, crap or otherwise. Almost all family flicks and heavy dramas.
Hell I woulda gone and seen this if I got dragged to it.

I didn't say that I'm not buying the DVD (heck, I DDD couponed both seasons of Dark Angel) but I really expected similar numbers to the two movies I've seen it most compaired to-- Gigli and Glitter. And both of them got only a fraction of that amount.

I had to see Honey this weekend in order for me to see Last Samurai. We went to this first, thankfully, and then I got to wash the horrible taste out of my mouth with the great film The Last Samurai.
There is some unintentionally hilarious moments in Honey. This guy sitting next to us said something that had me in tears. When Lil' Romeo's character is locked up, Honey goes to see him and he's in a prison issued jumpsuit. Bright orange and everything. He's walking up to Honey with a tough look on his face and the guy next to me says, "Give me a f'n break, the kid is 8 years old, they ain't sticking his ass in prison". I was dieing.

Why were you suprised? It was a wide release with a huge TRL push. I'm suprised it didn't do better to be frank, 14 mil is nothing, but I'll chalk that and the dissapointing 24 mil for Samurai up to the Blizzard conditions in a lot of north east over the weekend.

I'm not sure why everyone here is extolling 14 mil as a "hit", hell that's probably the advertising budget. I see serious dropoff for a movie like this (3 out of 10 at IMDB, 17% rating at Rottentomatoes). Let's see how it all shakes out before we proclaim its blockbuster status.
