I caught a sneak peek at "Something's Gotta Give" tonight.

There are plenty of laughs and insights into the romantic lives of people who've weathered plenty in their lifetime (with the defense mechanisms to prove it), and yet are still hit hard by the notion that love isn't an age thing, but it is simply where and when you find it. There's a lot of laughter to be mined from romantic pain and uncertainty, and Nancy Meyers (writer/director) does her darnedest to do so.

I do think the film runs about 10 minutes too long, but the roller coaster ride has plenty of ups and downs for the principal parties involved: Erica (Keaton) and Harry (Nicholson). The supporting cast (mainly Amanda Peet and Keanu Reeves, and also a little bit of Frances McDormand) is good, though under-developed and mainly serve to push the plot along.

I think this film is going to do well among the over-40 demographic (given the star turns by Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson) because it's a pleasant romantic comedy for such a group. This is your dad's romantic comedy.

I give it 3 stars or a grade of B.

I just received some screening passes in the mail today for this Tuesday night's preview. I'll be there.

Saw this last night. It was cute. Diane Keaton looked great, Jack Nicolson looked a little chubby, but damn is his voice still the sexiest thing since Barry Manalow. I agree that it was a pinch too long. Keanu wasn't even that annoying in it.

It's doing well at the box office so far after 2 days.

It's a very "safe" movie, which is OK for Jack since he did About Schmidt last year.

I'll see it at a matinee.

It may be a "safe" movie...but it's also a really great one. It's hilarious and touching. I enjoyed it a lot (also saw it at a sneek about a week back) and hope it does well, it's a very good adult comedy. Jack and Diane are both terrific in it. Go see it.

what do you mean it's a "safe" movie?

I saw it and liked it. Am very impressed that Jack Nicholson has done this and About Schmidt in the past year. Talk about embracing your aging self.

Diane Keaton is wonderful here. And the script is okay, too.

I'd take my mom to see it.

If I didn't hate, hate, hate the ending, I'd be a strong supporter.

**½ / ****.

The ending did suck, it's 15 mins too long but...

the rest is funny throughout and it's a great romantic comedy.

I'm saying it's formulaic but the actors are so good that it really doesn't matter.

Frances McDormand was hilarious. Nicholson, Keaton very good also.

Go see this.

The was a cute movie, even though it started to drag towards the end. The first hour and a half was so well put together, I was wondering what happened to the same crew during the conclusion.

Good cast, good chemistry, good laughs, long-ass ending.

Finally saw this flick on DVD last night. Pretty much agree with what's been said. Does drag in the 3rd act. Needed to be trimmed by 10 minutes or so. Diane Keaton was very good, but looks like she finally hit the wall.

Hubby and I watched this last weekend. We agree (for the 1st time in a while) that it was a good story.

I had to give these away last Christmas, but I rented the DVD or the weekend and loved it.

I'm only 30, but I found the movie very funny and refreshingly original.

The part where she tells him to cut off the turtleneck was so funny, Then the crying that insues was hilarious!

... and the funny thing was, Keanu didn't bug me like he normally does.
