...and sometimes she likes to notice things in movies that you're not supposed to. It's near the end of the movie where Lando has called for an evacuation of the city. He, Leia, Chewie and the droids are making their way to the Falcon, passing fleeing cloud city dwellers. Then my wife notices

who thinks it's really important to take his ice cream maker with him. I had to back it up and double-check. Yep, looks like an ice cream churn, all right.
We had a good laugh about that and I thought I'd share.

who mentioned anything about dvd's?
In any case, why do you find it funny that the man is taking out with him something that looks like an ice cream maker? this is space. perhaps it is his safe deposit box. the ashes of his mother in a futuristic looking container or hell.. an expensive ice cream maker?

Yeah, I know-- at prices I'm not willing to pay. But somewhere out there, there have to be some of these things sitting around people's attics or garages, who don't know what kind of prices they go for on Ebay. Would I pay $150 for one on Ebay? NO. Would I pay 5 bucks for one at a flea market or Good Will store? Yep.

Sometimes you just gotta have an ice cream.
Maybe theres a history behind it, like it was the last thing his wife gave him before she was killed by the Empire.
Maybe he was hiding the secret plans to the Emperors next ultimate weapon, a giant floating Gelatto of Death.
Perhaps his spaceship has no porta potty.

My ex-girlfriend pointed this guy out too. She thought it was a cuisinart, though. Everytime we'd watch the movie we'd wait in anticipation for this guy to show up and laugh our asses off. Too funny.

Hey all...
My website received a ton of hits from these forums so I thought I'd swing by and say hi...
It is rumored that the Ice Cream Maker is actually none other than George Lucas's own personal one, I've read that at a couple of different sites
I haven't always been a fan of the man known as Ice Cream Maker Guy, a year and a half ago though I hatched a wacked out crazy scheme to try and get Hasbro to make an Ice Cream Maker Guy figure. This started at one of the larger Star Wars collecting sites...since then I have done everything in my power to get this done, mainly forum lobbying and getting help at Conventions.
Hasbro has said I need at least 10,000 signatures (I have 1250 right now) so that remains a long, long ways off. Right now I'll remain content with my Custom figure and pine for the day that ICMG is made into plastic
BTW, Decipher (the original Star Wars CCG maker) has the only Official LFL piece of ICMG merchandise...
They named him Willrow Hood and it is his Official EU name, I prefer Ice Cream Maker Guy because most people find that funnier. And the question I always want to know is, why out of all of your wordly possessions would you grab that as your most prized object?
So...if you collect SW figures and want to see a ICMG figure I hope you sign the petition
Otherwise, I'm glad you all like the site. Look for some more updates soon, Including some new Commissioned ICMG Art!!!
Luka

I think it's because the galaxy's entire belief system is based on an ice cream maker (C3PO even "thanks the maker" at one point in the trilogy), and this scene is pretty compelling evidence that Willrow Hood is, in fact, in possession of the Maker. He is probably part of a chosen few, named "The Keepers of the Maker" or something, sworn to protect the Maker at all costs, and therefore is making haste towards the nearest exit.

I want to add that 99% of my site is a joke...while I do want an action figure made, there is a bunch of self mocking tone in the whole thing...
Other action figures have been made based on succesful petition drives (namely Wuher (the Cantina Bartender) and Porkins (the Fat X-Wing Pilot) so it can be done
Thanks for the support and I'm glad you all have found the greatest character in SW History
And DigIt...that is an awesome theory, I like it very much

I signed the petition!
This guy has not gotten the recognition that he deserves. I'm sure his story is much more interesting and important than what Lucas focused on in SW I & II.
I had the wonderfully talented Bill Cable give me his take on the one and only Ice Cream maker Guy. I think his idea of the Ice Cream Maker being a ice cream slinging cannon is one of sheer brilliance. Make sure you head on over to http://creaturecantina.com/cable/ for more of Bill's work.
Anyone know where I could try and find out who the actor was who played this guy? IMDB was no help, I would guess he was a bit actor from England but even that may be stretching it...
