Just a heads up, starting Sunday, BestBuy.com will be running a promotion where if you Buy 2 XSN (XBox Sports Network) Games, Get 1 Free! You can choose between the following: NFL Fever 2004, Links 2004, Top Spin, Amped 2, NHL Rivals 2004, and NBA Inside Drive 2004. Also, another heads up, starting Tuesday - Friday, BestBuy.com will have a $15 off $150 coupon available, which can even make this deal even sweeter!

Hmmm... my math shows the $15 off $150 wouldn't apply, if you settle for just three games.

With Links, Top Spin, Amped and Inside Drive*, I could see why one would end up over $150, though.

* = Quick personal review: First ID experience outside of a total of maybe 15 minutes at kiosks with the last two games... great game... graphically unpolished (worst crowd in years)... feels a lot like NBA 2k1 (which is an excellent thing)... was a shockingly easy, and previously unexpected, choice for my league's basketball season.

I bet Best Buy wouldn't even let you use the $5 coupon(s) with this deal. Damn them.

Good deal, but only 2 of those interest me at all. Top Spin is pretty good and I kinda wanted to check out Links, although 8 or 9 courses is weak as hell.

I thought Links had 20 something courses.

It has 8-9, but it's definitely not weak as hell, they are all great and it will have downloadable courses in the future.

All I want is Top Spin.

Cool, Tomorrow is a customer appreciation day as well. Anyone want to rank the games from best to worst? I mostly want top spin, and maybe fever.

When Tiger Woods has 20+ courses, then yes, 8 or 9 is weak as hell. Not all of us have or want XBOX live, so I think more should be there for single player use.

If number of courses is an issue, just play Tiger Woods then.

I'd rather have 8 or 9 great courses then 20 mediocre ones. Don't get me wrong, I liked Tiger Woods 2004, but IMO Links 2004 is more realistic and has captured the atmosphere of the courses better then TW2004.

Links is on my kind of want list. I will have to agree about lack of courses putting it low on the list. Links has been out on the computer for how many years? With how many various expansion courses? So for the Xbox, all they can give you is 8 or 9 courses. Pretty weak.

Top Spin was great. I hope I get it for Christmas. I think this game has the greatest potential for being EXCELLENT for Live. Although people jumping ship 2 sets in because they are losing are also a concern.

The engine they used for this version is completely different than any previous version for the PC, so your idea of having tons of courses doesn't apply.

How many courses did the original PS2 Tiger Woods have?

Three, but there was no competition at the time.

Gallant Pig, just because the engine for is different doesn't excuse them from not including more than 8 courses. Microsoft knew they were competing with Tiger Woods 2004 (and even TW 2003, which had over 20 courses).

Top spin is excellent! The matches are a blast. Some of the areas are very challenging (for the stars and for the sponsers). This is on the same level as Virtua Tennis!!

There are 9 courses.

Moving back on topic if it's ok with everyone...

Can someone who took advantage of this deal in a B & M please post how the receipt rang up? Usually BB will just discount all items the same amount (like $33.33 each). Do they do that or do they make two items $50 each and one for $0.00 (like TRU does during their sale)? I ask because I really only need two games (Top Spin for me and my best friend) and would buy & return one extra copy as long as I wont get $0 in credit in return.

Check this out regarding the original Tiger Woods for PS2:

The one trouble with Tiger Woods 2001, as ominously foreshadowed above, is that the feature list is more than a little lean. It's an unfortunate consequence of the time it took to get a solid engine up and running on PS2, and on account of the much more complex 3D modeling for courses and players on PS2. There are only six pros (to play as; several others appear as names on the leader board) and three 18-hole courses (Pebble Beach, Poppy Hills, and Spyglass Hill). Compare that to a whopping 17 courses in the PC version. The flipside, of course, is that the PS2 gets a much better-looking game.

I'm very willing to give Links the same leeway as was given to Tiger back in 2001, as I know their course library will grow just as Tiger's has. What's weak to me is giving a brand new game engine a hard time for offering 9 courses.

Gallant Pig,

You have a good point. I guess I'm just spoiled by the offerings from Tiger Woods. I'll be looking forward to next year's game.

too much it's all good. :D The games go very well together, online play = links. Tons of awesome courses = Tiger.

Of course, Tons of awesome courses + online play = Tiger 2004 (PS2).

BTW guess what just arrived in the mail today.

:D

And can anyone answer my previous post about how that deal rings up? Thanks.

Mine rang up with 2 at $49.99, and 1 at $0.00.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the info though.
