Jeeze that video is really making the rounds. This is the 4th message board to have it. First I saw it about a month ago. Anyway, that guy must have a lot of free time.

Neat. I downloaded a series of videos a while back that showed a guy playing through SM3.. Every level, every boss, just everything, without losing a life and getting a star at the end of every level. Pretty impressive. It was like an hour and a half long though.

So, how do you fly without the racoon tail? He's still little Mario. I think he's using a cheat...

They're just really well timed jumps.

No no, in the first few levels, he flies through the entire thing, with the flying music and everything... In the later levels, he jumps through the whole thing. But you can't tell me what he does ini the first level or two is a jump!

When you get running, you fill up your P meter. When it's full, it makes the "flying" sound. That sound is actually different from the sound the racoon tail makes when you're flying.

Can you fly with a full P meter, but no Racoon tail? (I never understood how the racoon tail made you fly...)

No, you can't fly with a full P meter alone, you need a racoon tail. Once the P meter is full and makes that ringing sound, then you can take off with the racoon tail.

I have no idea what you people are talking about. I've never played a Super Mario game.

OK, I just watched the video, agian. What I thought was flying was, indeed, well timed jumps, just like beefjerky said. VERY well timed, in fact.

Pretty incredible. On that note, any pic of this guy? I'm thinking Triumph at the Star Wars premiere.

The guy needs to get laid. But still, impressive.

That was cool...and whoever was playing wasn't just trying to get thru the game as fast as possible. Man that was a lot of 1-up's!

Actually, on the levels where he collected all those lives, he had to slow down. The screen on those levels scrolls without the player moving forward.

What's worse, a guy playing Super Mario 3 so much he's this good, or a bunch of people watching a video of it?

that's kind of what it is. it'son a NES emulator, with the input movements entered, and then the computer runs it. No one's actually playing it. i found a bunch of the actual emulator movies on the net that show how it's done. They actually stop and restart sections thousands of times and make these movies one of them took over 26000 or some insane number like that. There's one of it going through the entire game without warp whsitles and a cool "trick" one for SMB1.
