I don't get this. Sometimes it seems as though people want me to support "indie" artists even if they suck. Now, I'm not pointing any fingers at any one artist, but going to the record store feels more like a guilt trip than an enjoyable occassion when all the "hipsters" working there look down on you for buying a record from your favorite band (who is signed) and not some shitty emo-im-so-sad-i-lost-my-girlfriend-im-going-to-write-a-song-about-it band.

Maybe it's just Portland? Anyone else ever feel this way? Give me a indie band that truly deserves my hard earned dollars by way of making some killer music THAT I LIKE, and I will support them!

Ergyu,

The days of going into a "record store" are over. We are in the digital download distribution age. You can try-be-for-you-buy from your keyboard.

BTW: Check out the killer music of Taarka. They are a very cool, hip, techno Portland band. www.taarka.com

San Francisco - Michelle Lambert singer/songwriter/fiddler/model just joined the SoundClick.com from MP3.com. All MP3.com music will be deleted on December 2.

Michelle has been performing on stage since age 3.

there are plenty of indie artists that are really good, if not excellent.

just give everyone a sleater-kinney cd.

"Independent" and "unsigned" are not necessarily the same thing. Sometimes artists are unsigned because they're terrible.

Support musicians who put out quality material.
