I would agree, for me there is no better actor than Sean Penn, Naomi and her boobs, played a big role, and Benicio was excellent in an understated role.

I really enjoyed it, my wife was unsure what it was all about as she had not seen the preview.

She liked it in the end, but its not really holiday fare, we will have to balance it out over the weekend with Elf and The Cat in the Hat.

I have not seen anything else by innaritu, but I Really liked his style or his cinematographers.

the scene I liked most was

Spoiler:

the kid while leafblowing you knew you were going to see the truck come past, and did not need to see a huge crash, the noise was enough.

A very powerful motion picture and one of my favorites all year. I've seen it twice now and will likely revisit it once or twice more before it ends it's run in Vancouver.

It opens in limited release today and expands throughout the next few weeks.

My review is up at MovieContests.com - 21 Grams review by Mark McLeod

Saw it yesterday and loved it. I think the material might have been standard melodrama but the editing and moreso, the acting by just about everyone elevates the film to a new level. Some might think that by the end the structure is gimmicky and seriously, if one doesn't know what the movie is about they might have trouble putting it together in the first viewing.

I liked this film much more than Amores Perros (which is regarded very well on this board) which seemed to have a weak middle act.

Anyone know what the footnote translates to?

I thought it was much better than Amores Perros, but still not great.

The plot is eerily similar to that of Bounce - a craptacular movie. The only thing that has saved it in this instance is the chopping up of the plot, making it non-chronological.

Great acting. Great directing. But a weak plot.

I still recommend it, though.

Overally, I thought it was okay in some respects, good in others, but the characters aren't as compelling or of interest to me due to the fractured way of the story unfolded. The direction by Innaritu is good, and so are the performances by the 3 leads (Sean Penn, Naomi Watts, and Benecio del Toro). I just feel that the story let down the performances.

I give it a 2.75 stars, or a grade of B-.

thank you. The reason I ask is that the theater near me that's showing it doesn't present 2.35 films properly. So if it's 1.85 I'll go, but 2.35 I'll skip since they always cut off the sides.
