Take-Two Interactive Software’s Global Star publishing division is set to release Carve, a water-based racing action, the title that will include Xbox Live compatibility, allowing up to eight players to battle it out across the waves online, as well as up to four-player split-screen action. Carve, developed by Argonaut Games, will be available in January at an attractive retail price of $19.99.
With Carve’s Xbox Live gameplay, players will have access to numerous options including custom races, a Team Mode where gamers partner with a friend to compete against other racers, and the ability to track stats and compare with racers from around the world. Players will be able to enhance their online experience by unlocking new courses and watercraft in the action-packed single player mode, which pits gamers against challenging and unique AI opponents.
Carve will feature numerous playable characters, each sporting their own individual racing styles and signature tricks. Players can unlock new stunts by successfully completing tournaments. In addition, the game features 24 breathtaking courses that are spread across Europe, North America, the Arctic and the Pacific region with beautiful, realistic water that includes unique wave conditions depending on locale.
This looks like a pretty fun game, especially for the $19.99 price!

Hmmm. Could be good. Still I'm cautious. Any game that's released at a $19.99 price point does so for a reason. Here's a list of every game released at $19.99 that didn't suck:
Virtua Fighter 4 Evo
Sega GT Online
And both those aren't really "brand new" games. If the reviews of this one are OK, though I might just get it.

Well, to update this thread:
EGM Feb reviewed this game. Unfortunately, it sounds like I was right. The game got reviews of 5.0, 6.0, 6.5. Apparently it's okay, nothing more. They say the trick system is flawed and most races can be won by skipping all the ramps and tricks and just running a clean race -- that's disappointing. On the plus side, they admit it looks good and to get a XBL racing game for $20 or less is a good deal, no doubt. One other problems with Live according to EGM is that you can only talk with your nearest competitor.
