Hogan's Heroes (and other TV titles) coming in 2004, no date yet

DVDFile and TVShowsonDVD are both reporting that a recent Video Business article said that Hogan's Heroes was coming to DVD in 2004.

Looking forward to these. Hope they're priced similarly to MASH.

Star Trek: Voyager isn't the only TV show Paramount has scheduled for release in 2004. According to a Video Business article (free registration required), Paramount plans to release the first season of Hogan's Heroes sometime in 2004. Also released in 2004 are the first seasons of Resurrection Blvd. and Touched by an Angel. The other titles mentioned in the article that have been posted here before include: Punk'd, season 2 of Cheers and Frasier and season 3 of CSI and I Love Lucy (which obviously means season 2 is coming out as well).

Did you ever see the episode where Col. Hogan and his Heroes sneak out of the camp and disrupt the Nazi war effort? That's my favorite. Was that in season 1?

Nothing spells comedy like a Nazi prison camp. I wonder how they came up with this from Stalag 17? Either way, I'll be picking this up for sure.

I can't wait.
I'll always have a place in my heart for Helga. (and Hilda wasn't half bad either).

I believe that would be "Ja vol herr kommandant!".

"I see nothing. I hear nothing. I know nothing!"

That's OK, I don't speak English. That doesn't stop me from posting here.

Which was followed by, in one episode (and only one, AFAIK):

"I was not here! I did not even get up this morning!"

Ahh, Schultz! We miss you!

Oh, and BTW, that episode, you know the one where Hogan and his heroes sneak out of camp and disrupt the Nazi war effort... It was actually in season 2.

CSI is currently on their fourth season.

Hogan's Heroes was "inspired" by Stalag 17.

The show is based in a German prison camp during WWII. But it's an inmates run the asylum type of setup. The general stories were the regular prisoners using the camp as a way to smuggle out other prisoners, or to get information on German war plans and activities.

It was populated with lots of great character actors, and some very funny characters. The actor, Bob Crane, who's character was the namesake of the show died in a bizarre sex related murder. And after his murder, several S&M tapes he had made (some involving himself if I remember correctly) became public. Given that this was the late '70s, you can imagine the public reaction.

Last year's Auto Focus, starring Greg Kinnear, was based on Bob Crane's life.
