Any help out there? Cracks in DVD hub area
I have some DVD's in my personal collection that have hairline cracks in the hubs. I don't want the crack to move into the data section of the disk. Is there anything I can do? A repair maybe?
Can someone help me? I really need some good advice? Please.

Thanks
Peter

I had this happen with my Canadian release of Heavenly Creatures. I never found out about anything you can do to salvage it. I just was very gentle with it until the US releases came out and I replaced it.

I'd recommend some 2 ton epoxy spread over evenly across the inner hub, just the inner hub. Make sure it is a very fine layer. Get some fast bonding 2 ton epoxy. Make sure it is clear.
Have I ever done this? No. Will it work? Don't exactly know. Will it help? Moe thant likely.
Beyond that I don't know what you could do besides making a backup. Do you know anyone witha DVD burner?
Good luck.

I second the dvd burner recommendation. They are easily found for under $150 now. For anyone with a decent sized DVD collection that they care to keep in good condition, a burner and blank discs for $1 each is a good investment. DVD X Copy couldn't make the process any easier, and there are pleny of other programs (even freeware) that can do the job if you want more control.
