I bought it over a year ago,its a JVC XV-S42 and i didnt know much about them at the time,still dont as you can see by this post lol.It seems to be half decent but i cant find any info on it so how could i tell and if it has progressive scan and am i missing out on much if it doesnt?

Check JVC's website or you owners manual.

If you don't have a TV that can display progressive scan signals then it doesn't much matter.

What TV do you have? If it's a standard TV then your quest is for naught. If it's an HDTV you've got then a progressive scan is what you want. Like Frank S says, check with the owner's manual or the JVC website to know for sure.

I managed to dig up my manual and i dont see any mention of progressive scan and considering my Hitachi tv is about 9 years old im sure it isnt either although im looking at getting a new tv so least now i know one more thing i have to look for,thanks

Every player I've ever seen that was progressive scan, said so right on the front of it.
