The Critic - The Complete Series DVD Details!
From http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=836
This is FANTASTIC news. I'm so phyced it's finally official. The extras sound great, too bad Jon Lovitz isn't doing any commentaries, and he doesn't seem very involved with the extras. But this is awesome anyways. I can't wait!
PS: Click the link if you wanna check out the cover art. I couldn't get it on DVD talk.
Today is finally the day that Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment announces The Critic - The Complete Series. Jon Lovitz is the animated Jay Sherman, a TV movie critic who is forced to review the most pathetic films, which he always rates as "It stinks." In addition to the film parodies, the show also deals with his personal life: working for a tyrannical media mogul boss, his lovelife and his family.
This 3-Disc release comes with all 23 episodes, and extensive extras:
-Clip Compilations
-8 Commentaries, featuring Executive Producer Al Jean, Executive Producer Mike Reiss, Co-Producer David Cutler, Director Rich Moore, and Voice Actor Maurice "Jeremy Hawke" LaMarche. In addition, some commentaries include Executive Producer James L. Brooks, Writer Steven Levitan, Voice Actor Nick "Vlada Villamiravitch" Jameson, and Voice Actor Charles "Duke Phillips" Napier.
-New Featurette: "Creating The Critic". Features interviews with James L. Brooks, Al Jean, Mike Reiss, and other co-creators.
-"White Rabbits": Pop-ups during episode 113 which allow you to watch 3 of the scenes in a split-screen fashion. Split-screens show comparisons of storyboards, rough animations, and the as-aired final animated version of the scene.
-Short Film: Web-i-sodes
Set for release on January 27th, this will have a running time of 520 minutes. Fullscreen video will be accompanied by English 2.0 sound. No subtitles are provided, but it will be closed captioned for the hearing impaired. The list price is $49.95.

It's high for Columbia Tri-Star. Their other sets have an SRP of $29.95 or $39.95, depending on the show, and the number of eps. Personally, I'll still be buying this.

I'm sure to pick this up, but I'm uncertain as to what's on it. If I remember correctly, The Critic was on ABC or NBC or something for about a year, and then it became a FOX show. Since this set isn't put out by FOX, does that mean it's the other network's episodes (which I remember being much funnier).... or ABC's and FOX's? Either way, great news. The only episode I happen to have on tape is the Siskel and Ebert one, looking forward to getting to see these again.

The station that a television show aired on has absolutely nothing to do with who puts it out on dvd. Whoever made the show owns the rights to release it onto dvd (unless they sell the rights to somebody else).
