A film I saw long time ago in TV describing a team of British soldiers (3 or 4) in a desert doing some kind of mission (can't remeber). A scene captured a lot of my interest and it remained the only impression to me of that movie - the team tried to pull a jeep (or truck?) up a slope in the desert just by bare hands. Anyone knows the title of the movie?

Sorry, it doesn't seem to be "The Beast (1988)",

The film should be about WWII and was made around 60/70s while The Beast is about Afgan War.

Maybe it's The Desert Rats?

The Beast was a great movie though. Annoying, but great.

That movie was the first thing that came to mind. The tank running over the guy will forever be etched in my brain.

I don't recall the specific scene you mentioned but perhaps:

Tobruk (1967) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062377/)

or

Raid on Rommel (1971) (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0067650/)

Thanks guys.

By the way, I know all the movies above. However, I am not sure which one is the one I am looking for.

The worse would be to view through all of them.

One more hints, the team should be lost in the desert and seeking their enemies or base.

Their only vehicle is the jeep. They have to bring the jeep uphill as it can run on the slope to pass the hill.....I can only remeber this scene as I find it amazing - I didn't watch the whole movie as it was getting late when I saw it in TV years ago. I am searching for the right movie and hoping that on DVD.

If I can't locate it correctly, it will cost me too much to get all the movies (Tobruk, Raid on Rommel, Desert Rats,...etc) on DVD.

I am 100% sure it is not "The Beast Of The War" as I own this DVD and I loved it.

If anybody got those DVDs can verify that for me?

You mentioned earlier that you think the film is from the 60's or 70's so I am assuming that the film you are looking for would most likely be in color not black & white. Is this correct? Knowing if it was in color or not can help us narrow the list significantly.

That said, I am fairly certain now that it is not The Deserts Rats (black & white) or Tobruk (color). I haven't seen Raid on Rommel in quite some time so it might still be a possibility.

What you've described also sounds like it could be from an episode of a 60's TV series called The Rat Patrol. It was a show about 4 commando-types (American and British mix if I recall correctly), going on missions during the North African campaign against Rommel. Their mode of transport was 2 jeeps. One commando would drive the jeep; the other would operate the machine gun in the back. Their was a German adversary who was also a regular on the show. The show was broadcast in color.

Other than that I'm drawing a blank right now.

Could be "Ice Cold in Alex" -- see here:

http://www.britmovie.co.uk/genres/drama/filmography/032.html

Not a jeep, though, but an ambulance. The memorable sequence was towards the end of the journey when they are confronted by a very steep escarpment or hill. There's no hope of driving up it so they turn the ambulance round, engage reverse gear (biggest ratio) and "wind" the vehicle up the hill manually using the starter handle!

Flixtime: the movie is in color. It is not "The Rat Patrol". I loved
The Rat Patrol as it was the first TV series about WWII I experienced (My family even didn't have TV set during the time in 196x..). I had to peep neigbour's TV through the window to enjoy the show.

joegib: it looks like you are close to my looking for. However, I remeber there is no female character in that praticular scene. The jeep I mentioned might be a truck - but surely not an ambulance. The point you made is close that they engaged reverse gear and wind the vehicle up the hill. It is close to what I am looking for. There seems no DVD of "Ice Cold in Alex", I will try if there is any video here. Anyway, thanks for your kind assistance.

You guys are really great!¡@

In a bit of a hurry right now, but how about:

Desert Battle - 1969 (aka Desert Assault)

Desert Battle (1969) at IMDb.com (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064071/)

A couple of drops left before the well runs dry:
The Battle of the Damned (1969) at IMDb.com (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064865/)
Kill Rommel! (1969) at IMDb.com (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065144/)

Other than those, I am completely out of ideas.

The first-run of The Rat Patrol was a little before my time but I used to catch it in syndication when I was a kid. It was a little tough to find on TV though compared to stuff like Hogan's Heroes, F-Troop, Bonanza, etc. I haven't seen an episode in many years, though I do remember it enjoying it as a kid. Hopefully it will makes it way - along with Combat! - to DVD. Speaking of Combat!, my viewing experience with it is similar to that of The Rat Patrol (though I do recall enjoying The Rat Patrol a little more as a kid). That said, I was pleasantly surprised to find Combat! playing here in the U.S. on The Action Channel (part of Starz SuperPak). It seems they used to show it regularly a couple of years ago and now they've brought it back. They started with a 14-episode marathon on Veterans' Day and now I'm hooked. I was fortunate to catch quite a bit of the marathon and boy was it outstanding (I'm kicking myself for not recording it). Combat! was even better than my childhood memories had led me to expect; I truly was surprised at how gripping the show is. While watching, I felt a definite twinge of sadness once again for the loss of Vic Morrow during the filming of The Twilight Zone. Again, I hope we soon see both The Rat Patrol and Combat! on DVD.

And last but not least I'd be remiss to close without the following:
