I just won a large tv. Go me. :-) but I think it's too big to put in my living room where all my a/v stuff is and I've already got a 29" tv in there. The new tv would stick out about 26 inches into the room (about 4 inches more than my current setup) because I don't have any corners that it can go in, so it just seems like a bad idea. The living room is very bright as well becasue one whole wall is windows. Also the chairs in the room are only about

So I was considereing putting it in the "dining room" at the other end of the house - that I've never used as a dining room. It's mostly been my computer room since that's where my computer ended up. THis room has a couple things going for it. First, it has a corner that the tv can fit in. 2nd, there is a cable line going into the room on the other side of the wall so I can just drill a hole in the wall and feed the cable through. Third, it can be made to be pretty dark, even during the day, since it only receives light through 2 windows in the attached kitchen, and from the porch that is behind it.

I could watch things on cable with the cable line, and I could watch dvds if I got another dvdplayer (they are cheap enough these days), but I can't think of any good way to get the info from the tivo in the living room all the way back here. I can't run a cable so it'd have to be wireless, but I'm not sure how long a wireless transmission could go - the 2 rooms are on opposite sides of my place - a good 30 feet apart with a bathroom and furnace in between.

Has anyone found a wireless option for a situation like this?

THanks

There are several solutions for you based on the "leapfrog" type of av transmitters and receivers.

This should get you started:

Keep in mind that your big beautiful set is not going to look its best with this manner of signal. Are you sure you can't at least run a long svideo cable?

Yeah, running a physical line would be a real problem. It would have to cross 4 or 5 dooways depending on the route.

I had never heard of leapfrog before. The phone options looks like a good idea. Thanks.

The Leapfrog is better -- leaps and bounds better -- than the wireless. I live in a condo, and anytime the neighbor used his phone, the picture rolled and sound cut out. That's what you get for sharing the same freqency as modern cordless phones.

The Leapfrog picture is surprisingly good, but no better than composite. It's also better than the wireless picture on its best day. All in all, great option for a smaller TV in a rec room, but woefully inadequte for HT use.

One slight oddity -- the remote IR worked with the Tivo, but my Replay would not respond at all.
