...well... here's the only review I found: it's of the two-disc UK (R2/PAL) release (with DTS sound yet!)...

probably they want to put as many foreign language audio as possible... just like they did with The Hulk

it's an American movie for Christ sake... just stick with original language!

I'll probably end up buying the R2 release (when it comes out), mainly because the DTS would be awesome.

HOLD THAT THOUGHT! the region one dvd (according to dvdempire) WILL CONTAIN DTS SOUND So, we can sort of relax now. right.

Looks like a serious competitor with X2 this holiday season. Clearly one of top sellers of the year and will probably sell rapidly into the comming year. Yay for Pirates!

Pirates of Caribbean Region 1 will not have DTS!! Thats what someone told me today. This sucks.

confirmed by an ad in rolling stone! DTS and dobly digital 5.1 sound!
(sorry I can't post it sicne i don't have a scanner. Its the issue with jessica simpson on the cover)

also, yes! no full screen dvd. if they don't like it, deal with it, get the vhs tape. (which might be cropped to 1.78

Thank goodness! I thought some of you were jumping the gun a bit. I loved the film and am definitely going to buy it... it's nice not to have to compromise quality if one doesn't have the ability to play PAL Region 2 DVDs.
