Music Mixer is out

Anyone pick it up? It was supposed to be delayed, but it was out in Toys R Us and I picked it up as a part of their buy 2, get 1 free promo. New karaoke songs are available at www.xboxkaraoke.com at a steep $1.99 each. Some comments

1. The feature where you can put in a CD and have it strip the lyrics out of the some works pretty well for the CD's I tried.

2. Who would you need to download special software to buy new karaoke songs on your PC? You just buy the songs, download them to your PC, then transfer them to your x-Box. Why can't you download them directly to the X-Box?

3. Buying this, and wanting the ability to transfer pictures from my PC to my X-box is giving me the kick in the butt I needed to set up my wireless network

When you strip out the lyrics in songs, does it display the words for you to sing to?

And this is typical piss poor customer service!

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=324945

Okay here's the definitive word on the release date!
Welcome to Microsoft XBox Support
The XBox Chat session has been accepted

{Ricky} Welcome to the Xbox North America Presales Support! My name is Ricky.

{Ricky} Hi Chris

{Chris} Hello, did you see my original message?

{Ricky} Yes Chris, I'll be assisting you with your inquiry. Please wait while I gather the information.

{Chris} Thank you!

{Ricky} Chris, if you are unable to find the Xbox music mixer near your home, please check with other video game retail stores in your area. Shipments of Xbox music mixer will be continually supplied to major video game retailers.

{Chris} So it has been officially released to retail?

{Ricky} Chris, please check the link I’m giving you for your concern:
http://www.xbox.com/en-us/musicmixer/default.htm

{Chris} I've seen this link, but that does not answer my question directly. Has the XBox Music Mixer product been sent to retail already? The page you've given me shows Holiday 2003 as a release date. EB Games shows 12-01-03 as a release date. I'm getting different dates from different sources. So please tell me if the product has already been released. Thanx Chris

{Ricky} I'm sorry Chris, the official release date for the music mixer is Holiday 2003. So it hasn't been officially released yet.

{Chris} Okay, so no customers out there have been able to buy the product as of yet? Thanx Chris

{Ricky} As far as we know of, nobody outside of microsoft has the game yet.

{Chris} Thank you very much, I will post your response in the appropriate forums, since many of us were having a hard time finding this product. Thank you for your help, Chris

{Ricky} Is there anything else that I can assist you with today?

{Chris} No thank you, that was it. Have a great day, Chris

Notice that it took a while to get a straight answer from him.

Chris

What a bunch of idiots. Thanx for the good news though.

Nope. you only get the words, if it's a Karoke (.krk) file.

FlashStash, there is a small typo in the link. Just take the comma out:

That's correct...you only get the words for the songs you buy from www.xboxkaraoke.com . The feature I described lets you put in ANY audio CD and it will fairly successfully strip out the lyrics from the music (it basically mutes them, although you can still faintly hear them) You then either need to know the words...or pull out the little CD enclosure with the words printed in it

Xanager, fixed! Thanks!

Can someone who has it check to see if it will strip the vocal track out of a punk-ish or metal song with screaming vocals?

Actually - I want to know if I would be able to do an Antischism song... that would be enough to make me buy it. Ozzy is too slow for my taste... Besides - I've been in a few bands, so I don't have to wanna be anything.

I was just at a Halloween party where the host rented a kaeroke machine. Everyone was drunk as a monkey and people were singing songs like they were the next American Idol. It was a blast!

I think I will get this mixer... or maybe the PS2's Karoke game from Konami.

Just a word of warning. I just downloaded a little snippet of The Beatles 'A Hard Days Night' and it's not The Beatles. It's some pathetic sounding attempt at recreating their song. The music is not them and the vocals are not them, either.

Is this what I can expect from all karaoke songs? Or is it because it's The Beatles and they won't allow originals of their songs for karaoke purposes?

I downloaded a snippet of The K.L.F. and it was The K.L.F. so maybe it's just a Beatles thing.

No one has ever butchered "New York New York" like I just did. My mom came in and closed the door to my room. She said earlier not to sing today, I asked her why, and she said because the hadn't fixed the back window of her car. I was like then she said well you know because it's going to rain.

Circuit City had it in their ad this last Sunday and of course when I get there, they've never even heard of it and after checking said it would be in Thursday, so I picked one up at Toys R Us.

One of the bands I was in is signed to Capitol Records and has had several videos on MTV - does that count?
