Do you think more people want to see the Bills game or L&O: CI?

but shouldn't a network affiliate show network programming?
at least when I lived in James town I got both buffalo and erie affiliates so if one pulled crap like this, or had a telethon I could still get network programming

L&0:CI is scheduled for 1:30 AM, sandwiched between American Dreams and Lyon's Den.

Usually when affiliates pre-empt network programming, they air it in late-night.
NBC wouldn't do anything about it anyways. Affiliates pre-empt network shows for local programming all the time - more advertising money for them.

Affiliates don't have to show the network programming.

Basically, when a local team is in a nationally televised cable game, ESPN will usually ask the local networks if they want to show the game. Usually, for Sunday Night games, the local networks won't bother. I guess the NBC station there decided it would get more viewers showing the Bills game than the NBC Sunday Night lineup.
