Looks like we'll be getting that Scary Movie 4 at this rate. And not as massive a dropoff for Texas Chainsaw Massacre as I suspected. It may actually have some legs.

I'm shocked that Scary Movie 3 made $18 million in it's opening day. More than the $16 million opening day for the first film, and almost as much as the opening weekend for the second film. At this rate it'll have an opening weekend of $45 - 50 million.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre looks like it'll make $12 million this weekend, looks like it'll gross around $70 - 80 million total when all is said and done.

Nice PSA for Elephant. Looks like it already grossed more than Gerry. (Which is a film myself and only six others saw.)

Holy crap! After what I felt was a pretty bad sequel, I didn't think that this one would open so big.

I was thinking of strolling over and catching a show pretty soon, but with those numbers, its probably sold out.

Hey, another person who say Gerry! Incredible!

...but I didn't pay for it. Saw it at a press screening.

Anyway, I'm kind of surprised that Mystic River has larger numbers than Kill Bill.

I honestly didn't expect it to surpass 30 million after the horrible sequel.

Wow, Scary Movie 3 grossed huge. Kill Bill seems to have dropped bigger than I expected, but at least it'll make some decent dough before its time is up.

Ouch at the Beyond Borders gross, and the Oscar curse continues for Angelina Jolie.

This marks some kind of official change in society for me where at my age of 23, I now must be old. B/c I found nothing even slightly funny with the first movie, never saw the second & thought the trailers for the 3rd looked embarrasing they were so stupid & felt finally this franchise would end b/c of it. Yet, the movie goes on to open HUGE. I just don't get kids these days.

Please. As if movies like this didn't make tons of cash a decade ago.

I think it's the PG-13 combined with the Halloween timing that made that Scary Movie opening so huge. I imagine it'll take a HUGE plunge next week, though... under $20 mil possibly.

New Line is having a great second half of the year... Chainsaw will probably end up with over $70 mil. Combine that with Freddy vs Jason's take, the inevitable Lord of the Rings cash cow, and a possible sleeper hit with Elf. Takes some of the sting out of the early year flops like A Man Apart, Real Cancun, and Willard (which was an unfortunate failure).

There hasn't been a year on record where the top 20 box office draws were 20 good films.
I am pointing out that 10 years ago, people flocked to films that were a bit more, let's say, respectable.

wow, after Scary Movie 2, I thought the franchise was dead. Impressive take. I think getting rid of the Wayans and having a ton of cameos helped.

I know that I wasn't remotely interested in seeing it...until I found out that Zucker directed. Maybe others felt the same way. (I haven't seen it, by the way.)
