I'm not too pleased with the track listing.
Disc one:
"Blinded By the Light"
"For You"
"Spirit in the Night"
"4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)"
"Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)"
"Thunder Road"
"Born To Run"
"Jungleland"
"Badlands"
"Darkness on the Edge of Town"
"The Promised Land"
"The River"
"Hungry Heart"
"Nebraska"
Atlantic City"
Disc two:
"Born in the USA"
"Glory Days"
"Dancing in the Dark"
"Tunnel of Love"
"Brilliant Disguise"
"Human Touch"
"Living Proof"
"Lucky Town"
"Streets of Philadelphia"
"The Ghost of Tom Joad"
"The Rising"
"Mary's Place"
"Lonesome Day"
"American Skin (41 Shots)" (live)
"Land of Hope and Dreams" (live)
Only two songs from 1980's The River album? That was a double-album, for Criss sake! Where's Cadallic Ranch and Fade Away?
1984's Born In The U.S.A. yielded seven Top 10 hits, but only three are present. They made a great effort to include a lot of crap in place of gold.

I don't know about the "best of" list. I don't like all of the stuff either, but you can't please everyone.
Am I correct in saying there's a third disc with unreleased songs? That's the only one in which I'd be interested. For those who own all his albums these compilations are not needed unless they provide something new.

Saw it today and was also unimpressed.
Why is it that neither this "Essential" or the previous "Greatist Hits" both lack [b]I'm on Fire[\b].
Maybe he's one of these weird artists who hates one of his most successful/popular songs. That's great and all -- but it is at least a "greatist hit" of his whether he likes it or not.
