Doesn't say anything anywhere about any directing.

That'd be so cool to meet Hooper. Too bad they aren't showing his debut film, Eaten Alive.

I'm just upset that Landmark Inwood has yet taken my request to play Requiem for a Dream on thier Midnight Movie rotation.

Well, they were the only place in town that played the movie at all here, if only for a week. Give them that much at least.

So did anyone attend this screening? I did and thought it was a great way to spend Halloween--in the presence of Tobe Hooper and viewing one of the greatest horror films of all time. It was actually the first time I've seen The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in a movie theatre, as I was too young to see it in 1974. Hooper introduced the film beforehand and participated in an excellent Q&A afterwards whereupon he was mobbed by autograph seekers at the conclusion of the evening. I didn't stay for either of the midnight screenings--too many other Halloween activities to do that weekend.

Hooper said he had been to a screening at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood three weeks ago, but the print in Dallas actually looked better. It was a new 35mm print struck from the original negative. I have to assume that this was the transfer that Elite did for the laserdisc, as Hooper mentioned that the original 16mm had disintegrated and only exists digitally (from when Elite remastered it by making a new 16mm internegative from the original A/B roll negatives).

As our own CineShlocker is fond of quoting from Joe Bob Briggs: “The Saw is King.”

I don’t know what you mean by Hooper’s debut film. Eaten Alive was Hooper’s next film following The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Eaten Alive (also known as "Brutes and Savages," also known as "Death Trap," also known as "Horror Hotel," also known as "Horror Hotel Massacre," also known as "Legend of the Bayou," also known as "Murder on the Bayou," also known as "Starlight Slaughter") was made in 1976 and released in 1977, definitely after TCM.
