Stephen King should go back and correct "Carrie" [spoilers]
I noticed a huge mistake in the novel. Carrie was King's first published novel, in 1974, and the novel explains how Carrie's father, Ralph White, was dead before she was born. Then, later in the story, it is revealed that Carrie was spied by her mother, Margaret White, levitating a rattle from the crib during infancy. Margaret had almost killed her then. Ralph had stopped her reads the passage. The passage is erroneous because Ralph was already dead.
Shouldn't King and his publishers have gone back and corrected that?

Wait a minute, that could be the reason why the TV series was never picked up.

I don't understand all the sarcasm. I have never seen a discrepancy in a Stephen King book before (or I've never noticed it), and this is kinda confusing to someone who is really reading the story as opposed to the rest of you who don't think it really matters.
Would it really take a lot of effort to correct the story, since it is a terrific story and one worth printing in perfection.

I'd also venture a guess that the vast majority of published books, especially mainstream fiction by authors who publish at least once a year, contain similar minor errors.

Spoilers below--be warned!
Stephen King even admits that he makes mistakes in his books. When The Green Mile was published serially there is a scene where Percy is put in a straitjacket, and a few paragraphs later he is not. When the trade paperback was published Mr. King admitted that he screwed up in the foreword and fixed it for that and all future editions, so him screwing up isn't something new.
