any divx/xvid stand alone players?

any divx/xvid stand alone players?

anyone know if the technology is there yet? or we still need a HT pc?

Yes. A company called KiSS has already introduced two stand alone DivX players, model DP-450 ($200) and DP-500 ($500). The latter has network capabilities. Check out DivX.com for more info.

wow. $200 entry level... for that price I think I'll put that money into a HT pc that will just play everything.... think I've already got a case, PSU, cpu, ddr and sound card. need me a mobo and gpu with s-video out. hmm. maybe a $65 r8500 nic it in with my home network and should be set.

though I hate the idea of a keyboard/mouse in the living room... any alternatives to that? some remote control to move and click mouse??

If you've already got it all planned out, why are you still asking? Oh, BTW, stand alone players don't @#$%ing crash like your little HT pc, it comes w/ a remote, and has progressive scan component video hookup.

my question is how compatible is it? i mean, Divx doesn't really have an official standard like DVDs.
