Taxi Driver and John Hinckley Jr.
I finished watching the doc. on the Taxi Driver dvd and Paul Schrader mentioned something about John Hinckley, Jr. trying to assasinate Ronald Reagan. What was that all about?

He supposedly tried to assasinate the President in 1981? to impress Jodie Foster, with whom he had an obsession. His obsession came from her role in Taxi Driver, and I suppose he was somewhat imitating the intended assaisination of Palantine, I think his name was, in the movie.

I'm not sure he had any intent to imitate anyone from the movie... it was just his obession with Jodi Foster, he wanted a way to impress her.
