Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu
I was just curious if anybody has played this game yet.
I seen this game today at the local EB & came really close to buying it but 2 of the screen shots on the back showed timers at the top of the screens & it made me think twice about it.
Is a lot of the levels timed ?

I think most or all of them are timed.
EGM apparently gave it 5.5, 7.0, and a 4.0 *not sure on this one found on msg board
IGN
PS2 score 6.5

The IGN review pretty much summed the game up for me.
I think ill pass on this one.
Which sucks because I really wanted to like it.
I will rent it someday though.

Not sure if your looking for a Batman game. If you haven't played Batman:Vengeance that one is supposed to be pretty good.

And now for something completely different....
I LOVE this game!
I know, I know...it was a surprise to me too! I too had read the strictly mediocre reviews and had no real intention of buying the game based on those. But my local EB had it running on their demo machine and I tried it out. Gotta say, within seconds the fond memories of Streets of Rage came flooding back.. I'm a huge sucker for the side-scrolling beat-em-up genre, which is pretty much an extinct breed, and for some reason I had assumed this new Batman game had the clunky, stiff control of the last Batman game (Dark Tomorrow). Nope! The control is fantastic, with very stylish martial arts moves, timing-based combos, air-juggles, blocking, super-moves, and targetted throws. And contrary to the IGN review, you can also block and do a dodge roll in any direction to clear out when surrounded by enemies. In fact, this dogde roll is so useful and fun to use that I'm pretty much going to expect it in any other beat-em-ups which eke out from now on.
Does it get repetitive? Hell yes. But that's a staple of the genre.....Classic games like Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, TMNT were repetitive beasts which also just happened to be addictive as hell. What I like about Batman:ROTZ is that there are a ton of ways to dispatch of enemies, especially once you start unlocking the 25 or so new moves you can earn. It's also one of the rare 2-player co-op games out there. (Although this along with next week's TMNT revamp begs the question....why are there 4 characters but no 4-player support??)
And oh, the soundtrack. It's fantastic. Even the menu music is completely unique. It's an interesting mix of Techno and Danny Elfman, and I'm loving it.
Also, for fans of Batman, there are unlockables up the wazoo, including a 27-minute documentary Making Of. And hearing the characters chatter to each other as you play is a nice nod to fans of the show.
The only negative for me so far is, yes, the timed levels. I played a 2-player game for 2 hours tonight and we were constantly pressed for time, a few times forced to repeat the level because time ran out. Ugh, annoying.
Seriously though, for old-school fans of this genre I truly recommend at least trying the game out. It would be a shame if TMNT crowds out this game. Most people will probably dismiss Batman:ROTZ because of the recent string of bad games and go with the established TMNT franchise, which is a shame because they share a genre and in many ways, Batman is the deeper of the two (based on a quick play at E3 of TMNT, I should say). Having said that, I'm still psyched for TMNT next week (and the GBA version in particular looks like a blast). With Viewtiful Joe, Batman, and 2 TMNT games within 2 weeks of each other, fans of the genre should be thanking the gaming gods. I know I am.
So yeah, anyone else play this at any length? Am I alone here?
