Suggestions and thoughts for this setup ($1000 +/-)

I have a budget of +/- $1000 for a receiver and speakers.

Here is what I have come up with. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions or comments.

Receiver - Harman Kardon AVR-230 $380.00
Fronts - JBL S310II $350.00
Rears - JBL S36II $200.00
Center - JBL S Center II $180.00

Just a little more than I was looking at spending but what can you do??

As for the sub I am going to use my existing Sony and will upgrade it in a few months.

I'd personally suggest listening to the S38ii for the fronts. I've found them to have tighter bass response than the 10" on the S310ii's. Most people seem to prefer the S38ii or S312ii.

have you thought about PSB or Paradigm speakers?
The PSB Alpha line, and the Paradigm Performance series might well be in your price range, and are well worth a listen.

I agree. These are well worth a listen, including the PSB Image line.

I would get a Denon 1803 rather than the Harman Kardon avr 230

http://www.6ave.com/product.jsp?x=AVR1803

It is thru an authorized online dealer of Denon products and it is on sale for only $349.49 plus 6 cent shipping.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Looks like I have a busy weekend ahead. Heading down to Delaware to checkout Paradigm and into the city to listen to some PSB's.
