Sinead O'Connor's infamous SNL Pope-ripping performance censored?
I'm watching Comedy Central and they are airing the episode of SNL where Sinead O'Connor rips up the Pope's picture. Only at the end of the song, where she is supposed to rip up a picture of the Pope, she instead presents a picture of a child, the song ends, and everyone claps.
What the hell? What happened to the version aired LIVE on NBC on October 3, 1992? Did NBC censor it, or did they replace it with the version done in rehersal?

can SNL be any more pathetic? yeah, I guess, but not much more pathetic than censoring yourself after using the moment for publicity. I think I'll just continue censoring SNL from my own viewing after being reminded of this.

Maybe Comedy Central decided to air the rehearsal footage instead. You might want to find out, before you censor SNL for that. (Though, if you want to censor SNL for its total lack of funny stuff of late, that is ok)

I'd like to censure this misuse of the word censor in this thread.
