CS: Condition WTF?

Huh
??
Tony hawk like challenge? Do I need to do a kick flip to get a head shot?
Although you will still find some of the Ritual missions in the game, the meat of CS: Condition Zero is a new mode programmed by Turtle Rock Studios. Twelve Ritual missions will be in a section of the game called "Deleted Scenes." These missions were the best of the 20 or so that Ritual developed. But the new game mode that will comprise most of Condition Zero is a Tony Hawk Pro Skater-like challenge mode.

"A typical mission in CZ looks like this:
# you have to win at least three times, and have won at least two more than your opponents
# in easy mode, you have to get one kill with a pistol
# in normal mode, you have to get one kill with a five seven
# in hard mode, you have to get three kills with a five seven without dying which may take multiple rounds
# in expert mode, you have to get three head shots with a deagle without dying"
Sounds good if you ask me. These Ritual missions are NOTHING like Counterstrike and I am glad they will only be there in a limited capacity. They play like a damn arcade game, the increased the rate of fire on all weapons, added a ton of med packs laying around, and increased run speed dramatically. Hopefully the ones Turtle Rock did will be more like the game it was supposed to be, Counterstrike.

IMHO, this new approach is lame. What's the point of making a game that plays EXACTLY like Counterstrike with bots?! (These challenges are just like an offline incarnation of 'playing well to gain the respect of your peers'). Think about that. You may as well just play the regular Counterstrike online or use bots.
The whole point of a single player game should be to take nice elements from the existing game (theme, style, atmosphere) and then include stuff only possible for single player. ie, story, scripted events, more involved objectives, new weapons, etc.

John, you have to understand the approach Ritual took was NOTHING like Counterstrike. The only similiarity to it was the weapon/character models. The rest was totally different. There was no story at all, just random events at different locations, just about every mission was solo based.
The work Turtle Rock is doing makes it sound to be basically an updated Counterstrike, with new/redone maps that also has a singleplayer mode. While that may not be worth putting down 40 or 50 bucks it is still better than the mess Ritual produced.
edit: I also forgot to mention that in the majority of the Ritual levels you had to, get this, PUSH a box around in order to jump over obstacles. Ok..that would be fine in any other game, but comeon, this is supposed to atleast resemble counterstrike.
Not to mention almost every baddie takes multiple headshots to kill.
