From TFN. Discuss.

Spoiler:

After the events of the absolutely epic opening space battle, the droid general has escaped, Palpatine has been rescued and Dooku is dead. Unfortunately, the Seperatist cruiser that Obi-Wan, Anakin and Palpatine is on, has now broken apart and tumbles into the atmosphere of Coruscant. The "Coruscant Fire Department" sends up fire ships to help guide the ship in for as safe of a crash landing as they can manage. This certainly is a "Grevious" situation. Haha, I've been wanting to say that. Anyhow, this seems like a reasonable explanation to the Fire Ship idea, I've been wondering how that would fit in. It makes sense that a city planet would have a way to fight fires and rescue people from extreme situations. This could be the reason several "extreme wind" situations have been called for on set.
-Anakin expects to be treated with more respect by the Jedi order now after having killed Dooku and rescuing Palpatine. When the droid general is tracked down, Obi-Wan is sent off on the mission to take him down, not Anakin. Palpatine, in response to his being kidnapped, uses this as a foil to upgrade his security and make Anakin his personal bodyguard. Another step for Anakin to be closer to Palpatine and in the future the Dark Side. He is getting prideful with slaying Dooku, and we see him now separated from Obi-Wan yet again. A receipe for disaster. And "upgrading the security" sure sounds like the Red Guards finally get much deserved recognition.

- Anakin does indeed have to make a "choice" in the film. That choice is given to him by Palpatine. In response, Mace Windu chooses to try and defend himself. This sounds like it fits with the Palpidious SPY REPORT earlier this week. Anakin is guarding Palpatine, per the spoiler above, and Mace comes for a visit. We see a flash of the ROJ Palpatine, then he unloads on Mace. Anakin and Mace duel, with Mace going down hard - sealing Anakin's embrace of the Dark Side.

No Problem buddy!

My theory for the first half of the film:

Spoiler:

First 10-15 Mins = Giant Space Battle&above spoilers / Dooku's death by Anakin's hands.

Obi-Wan is seen as the hero of the clone wars and sent on a new mission to find this new bad guy. Anakin gets upset that Obi-wan gets all the praise, the hero of the clone wars, when he in fact killed Count Dooku ending the war. He becomes Palpatine's bodyguard.

[Spy Report] In a Jedi Council scene, we will see Mace Windu discussing new assignments with Hayden and Ewan. Yoda, Agen Kolar, Stass Allie, and Saesee Tiin are among those present. Ki-Adi-Mundi and Plo Koon are not in the scene as they are on a mission off-world. We will see their holograms during this scene.

For some reason, Yoda heads in Kashyyyk direction? He does leave the planet at this time though.

[Spy Report] Anakin and Obi-Wan together on a landing platform on Coruscant.

Obi-wan leaves to find new bad guy.

[Spy Report] R4 from ATOC is with him.

The Senate play scene with Palpatine?

Mace is at the Jedi Temple talking to hologram Yoda, who may already be on Kashyyyk acting as a general. Yoda tells Mace that the Clonetroopers have turned on the remaining Jedi under his ranks. Mace knows Palpatine is in control of the army and goes to see whats up. (Never the less, I believe we should keep a closer eye on the senate.- ATOC)

[Spy Report] "When things go down, Mace pays Palpatine a visit."

Mace shows up to find Anakin and Sideous/Palpatine who reveals himself ... finally. Anakin has to make his choice. Windu goes for Sideous when a lightsaber stops his attack ala ROTJ. Anakin as nonsuit Vader wipes the floor with Windu. Sam Jackson said he is on the defense with around 80 moves. Also forshadowed by Anakin's look toward Windu in TPM.

Vader and the clone troopers then kill all the Jedi they find in the Jedi Temple. Palpatine declares to the republic the Jedi have betrayed them all. The Jedi are now outlawed. Even though the war is over and Palpatine doesn't need his emergency powers anymore, he uses the rouge Jedi as an excuse to remain in control of the republic army. The entire planet of Coruscant is blockcaded so no surviving Jedi can escape. Obi-wan and Yoda, our two PT survivers, are already conveniently off the planet. They will never return to Coruscant.

[Spy Report] "We will see many Jedi die and we will see a scene where Vader receives his Sith name".

[Spy Report] "Vader means Betrayer".

[Lucas] "Boba will be in Episode III, but his role definitely won’t be larger. He’s in a transition period of becoming a bounty hunter. The next film takes place two or three years later, so Boba would only be 13 and still wouldn’t fit in the suit."

The only guess I have for this is that Lucas may imply offscreen that Fett goes after the Bear Clan. What else can Fett do? Just a guess ....

[Spy Report] "Bail will be in a scene on a landing platform on Coruscant that is round in shape. Bail will exchange laser fire with unseen opponents before making a quick escape in his shiny red speeder."

[Spy Report] "The Tantive 4 from ANH is finally used by Bail. We will see the bridge and escape pods in use during the movie."

I believe Bail, Pregnant Padme, R2 and C-3PO escape the blockcade of the planet, hence the ship's alternate name, Blockcade runner, and they travel to Alderaan.

Obi-wan tracks down this new bad guy, to an unknown planet.

[Spy Report] "Obi-Wan Kenobi, a fugitive, will find safe haven on an alien planet and in the company of an alien leader played by Bruce Spence".

Vader leaves Coruscant to find Padme. Palpatine leaves as well. Tarkin left in charge of army?

[Spy Report] "A scene will feature Palpatine, Mas Amedda, and four red-robed guards in which they depart in a large shuttle."

Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Bail are all on seperate planets. Hence the spy reports of many different planets in Episode 3. They are all probably trying to meet.

During their different paths, somehow they will figure out the Jedi Ghost Trick. Qui-Gon?

They meet on Alderaan.

[Spy Report] "In one scene, Padme, Obi-Wan and C-3PO will be in
"the scene that explains it all" on a vista with moderate winds."

[Spy Report] "Bail is in a scene with Yoda in a conference room that features blinking lights and buttons that hark back to the OT settings. The scene is all dialogue and the characters are discussing crucial events of the galaxy."

Mon Mothma lays groundwork for rebellion.

Padme has the twins. Her death is either planned or real near the end.

[Spy Report] "There is a Land Battle." Unknown place

Yoda/Obi-wan will find themselves caught up fighting the two Sith, either on the same planet or not.

[Spy Report] "R2 will witness one of the lightsaber fights." My guess is Obi-won vs Vader. ("He believes himself to be the property of an Obi-won Kenobi." - ANH]

Yoda will be injured by Sideous. He will escape or Sideous will think he is dead. No one seemed to be looking for him in the OT.

Obi-won,still on the run from the Empire now, will be ejected in an escape pod of the Blockcade Runner on Tatooine. He has Luke with him.

Bail takes Leia with him to Alderaan.

[George Lucas] "The droids memory will be erased." Both of them?

Obi-won delivers Luke to Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. He heads towards the sanddunes. He is now known as just Ben.

---- This is just a rough cut of what I expect, but some questions we need more info on to be sure.

1. Anakin's choice? Why does Mace go there? This scenes, or the scene with Anakin vs. Dooku, will be the scene in which we may find out who ordered the clones and who erased Kamino. Does Mace think Anakin is betraying the Jedi? Does Anakin think Mace is the traitor? Did they both betray the Jedi?

2. It is not known when the new bad guy meets his end. However we know parts of his cyborg body will find their way into Vader's costume. I think he will get done in near the end of the movie before the famed duel. ie. Readily available parts.

3. When exactly does Chewy deliver the twins?

4. When exactly is Alderaan featured? Before or after the Kenobi/Vader dual?

5. What are the circumstances behind the land battle?

6. When does Obi-wan make the plans with Yoda for their actions in the OT?

This $hit is pretty good. Alot of it you can read at theforce.net forum. This film might even turn out to be one of the best of the series! Thanks darthmaul for the summary post!

That post seemed about a mile long, but it didn't indicate whatsoever one of the questions I most badly want to see answered--how Anakin/Vader gets burned and scarred. As I understand it, it's due to a mind-blowing duel between he and Kenobi, but where would that fit in with all this Anakin vs. Mace Windu stuff?

I'm still of the group that wants to see Mace turn himself over to the force (ala Obi-Wan v. Vader in ANH) and piss Anakin off....

But I won't reserve any judgement until I see the film.

The Anakin vs. Mace stuff will be his big/final step toward the dark side thus setting up the duel with Obi Wan which will likely be at or near the end of the film. That's how it fits in.

Not sure if this is BS or not, but it sounds real cool. My friend sent this to me. I guess he reads some episode 3 spoiler site regularly. Its sounds pretty cool even if its complete bull

Major potential spoilers below.

Spoiler:

According to the opening-text crawl that opens Episode 3, the Clone Wars continue to rage between the Old Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems (The Separatists). The opening-text crawl also reveals that the enemy Separatists have taken Supreme Chancellor Palpatine hostage. Next, we see an epic space battle taking place over Coruscant between the Republic military forces and the Separatist’s military forces. General Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and other Jedi Knights enter the battle with clone troopers in star ships.

Obi-Wan is now a Jedi Master and Anakin is a full-fledged Jedi Knight. During the battle, the Jedi use a new version of the Jedi star fighters, which have been augmented for battle. Obi-Wan and Anakin make it their primary objective to free Palpatine from the Separatists. Palpatine is being held prisoner in the flag ship of the Separatist armada. This just happens to be the biggest and most heavily fortified star ship in the Separatist’s fleet.

After much excitement, Obi-Wan and Anakin pilot their ships inside the Separatist ship holding Palpatine. Soon after landing, General Grevious (the half-man and half-machine leader of the droid armies) comes after Obi-Wan and Anakin. The two Jedi manage to flee from Grevious and his battalion by using giant tubes. Obi-Wan and Anakin then proceed to an elevator and eventually run into Count Dooku. A tremendous light-saber duel erupts between Obi-Wan and Anakin vs. Dooku. Grevious enters the fight and manages to hurt Obi-Wan.

However, realizing that he might be captured or killed, Grevious leaves the Separatist flag ship as the ship gets pounded by laser fire from the Republic star ships. Next, Anakin duels with Dooku alone as Obi-Wan is sidelined with his injury. Palpatine watches this duel while being imprisoned in a chair. Palpatine also speaks during this dramatic duel. Anakin manages to destroy Dooku. To avoid destruction, Anakin races to the control area of the Separatists star ship so that he can safely land the heavily damaged ship. Anakin successfully lands the ship on the surface of Coruscant and emergency vessels arrive to quench the fire that is overtaking the ship.

Mas Amedda and Palpatine’s royal guards arrive and take Palpatine to the Galactic Senate. As Palpatine disembarks the ship that carried him to the Senate, Palpatine is greeted by a group of Senators and Jedi Knights. Palpatine enters the Senate and Padme Amidala is waiting for Palpatine. Padme is wearing clothes that hide her pregnancy. Her marriage to Anakin remains a complete secret. Before the Senate, Palpatine announces that the Separatist leader (Count Dooku) is now dead and that the Separatists are in disarray. Palpatine advises that the Republic must strike against the Separatists while the Separatists are in chaos.

For Obi-Wan’s next mission, the Jedi Council orders Obi-Wan to hunt down General Grevious. Anakin is upset that the Jedi Council does not adequately acknowledge the fact that Anakin destroyed Dooku all be himself. With great clever, Palpatine feels Anakin’s great anger and uses this to Palaptine’s benefit. Palpatine asks the Jedi Council to allow Anakin to be his bodyguard. Anakin is eager to serve Palpatine because Palpatine has long been a great supporter of Anakin’s career.

Meanwhile, Bail Organa is seen at a meeting in Padme’s residence. The focus of this meeting is to have Palpatine relinquish his emergency powers. Powers which Palpatine promised to relinquish at the end of the Clone Wars. In other parts of the galaxy, the Jedi and clone trooper forces continue to battle the Separatist military in various star systems. On Kashyyyk (the Wookiee home world), Yoda oversees clone troopers during an important battle. Meanwhile, back on Coruscant, Mace Windu manages to piece together the Sith conspiracy and comes to the conclusion that Palpatine is evil.

Windu arrives at Palpatine’s office to air his suspicions directly to Palpatine. Anakin is present with Palpatine as Windu asserts his belief that Palpatine is up to no good. With massive hate, Palpatine unleashes a strong current of dark side lightning at Windu. With great skill, Windu deflects this lightning with his light saber. Here and now, Anakin is left with the most important decision of his life. Will Anakin save Windu from Palpatine or will Anakin strike down Windu and save Palpatine?

Palpatine claims that the Jedi are corrupt and deceitful. Furthermore, Palpatine states that the Jedi themselves have always sought to undermine Anakin’s destiny. The choice is clear for Anakin. Anakin helps Palpatine kill Windu.

Next, Palpatine finally reveals to Anakin that Palpatine is indeed a Sith Lord. Palpatine cleverly convinces Anakin that the powers of the dark side will bring Anakin’s great promise to fruition. On a new planet never before seen in a Star Wars movie, Obi-Wan (with his contingent of clone troopers) finds General Grevious. A spectacular battle erupts between Obi-Wan and his forces vs. Grevious and Grevious’ battle droids. The battle is waged on a high cliff top with a breathtaking view around them. What follows next is a chase sequence, whereby Obi-Wan (riding a computer-animated lizard-like creature) chases after Grevious, who is riding a device that looks similar to a Hailfire droid.

The chase comes to an end and Obi-Wan and Grevious launch into a light-saber battle. During this battle, Grevious’ arms split in two and Grevious is suddenly wielding four light sabers against Obi-Wan. Eventually, Obi-Wan finishes Grevious off with blaster fire from a gun. Back on Coruscant, there are demands that Palpatine must surrender his emergency powers since the Clone Wars appear to be at an end. Palpatine states that he will not give up his emergency powers. Palpatine now claims that he must keep his emergency powers to battle the threat posed by the Jedi Knights.

Palpatine claims that the Jedi are traitors to the Republic and that the Jedi were actually conspiring with Count Dooku to defeat the Grand Old Republic. Palpatine insists that the Jedi are to blame for the millions of deaths and the destruction of many star systems during the Clone Wars. Also, Palpatine relates the story of how a Jedi Master tried to assassinate him. Luckily, Anakin was there to save Palpatine from this would-be Jedi assassin. Palpatine retains his tyrannical powers and announces the creation of his Empire.

Next, Palpatine orders the Republic military to find the Jedi and destroy them all. Those opposed to Palpatine (Padme, Bail Organa and Mon Mothma of Chandrila) hold a meeting to discuss what has just transpired regarding Palpatine’s extreme power grab. They decide to take no action at the moment and to see how things will develop. An assassination attempt is made on Bail Organa’s life. Bail makes his way to a landing platform where his red speeder is waiting for him. To avoid laser fire, Bail hides behind his speeder. Bail successfully escapes from Coruscant.

After this attack, Padme leaves Coruscant for Naboo for her own safety. Now the clone troopers receive their orders to hunt down the Jedi. Obi-Wan has to kill a clone trooper, who had become Obi-Wan’s friend during the Clone Wars. The decimation of the Jedi by the clone troopers is seen occurring in several star systems across the galaxy. The Jedi are vastly outnumbered by the clone troopers and have no chance to save their lives.

Yoda happens to be on Kashyyyk when the clone troopers turn on him. Chewbacca and other Wookiees save Yoda from the clone trooper betrayal. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan hides on a new world. The leader of this world graciously welcomes Obi-Wan and promises to help Obi-Wan’s plight. On this world, Obi-Wan finds out about Anakin turning against the Jedi. Obi-Wan decides to head for Naboo.

Back on Coruscant, Palpatine dispatches Anakin to the planet called Mustafar to destroy the remaining Separatist leaders. On Naboo, Obi-Wan finds Padme at her villa. Amidala tells Obi-Wan that she is pregnant with Anakin’s child. Soon afterwards, Obi-Wan and Padme find out about Anakin’s travel to Mustafar. The two decide to go to Mustafar to confront Anakin.

Next, Obi-Wan and Padme arrive on Mustafar, but Anakin has already eliminated all the Separatist leaders. Padme and Obi-Wan confront Anakin. Anakin uses Force choke to get Padme out of his way. Obi-Wan ignites his light saber. The legendary duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin has begun.

This duel is very epic in nature. It takes place in several locations. One location is a mechanical room. In another location, they hang from cables and finally end up at a volcano crater. During the duel, Obi-Wan cuts off one of Anakin’s legs. Anakin slips on the slope of the volcano and plummets into molten lava. Someone removes Anakin from the burning pool of fire. Next, Obi-Wan takes care of Padme, who was badly hurt by Anakin’s Force choke.

Obi-Wan takes Padme to Bail Organa on Alderaan. The Skywalker twins are taken out of Padme because it is thought Padme is going to die. Subsequently, Padme does die after giving birth to the Skywalker twins. Elsewhere, Anakin heals inside mechanical armor. Anakin regains consciousness and is told that he is responsible for Padme’s death. Anakin is so distraught that he destroys the room he is in with the Force. Next, Palpatine gives Anakin the moniker of Lord Darth Vader.

A funeral is held in Padme’s honor. Some of her handmaidens and Sio Bibble attend the ceremony. Obi-Wan (with Yoda’s input) decides to hide the Skywalker twins on Tatooine with Owen and Beru Lars. It is Bail Organa in his Tantive 4: Blockade Runner that carry Obi-Wan and the Skywalker twins toward Tatooine. However, Bail’s star ship comes under fire from Palpatine’s forces. Bail’s ship is boarded by Palpatine’s minions. Obi-Wan and young Luke escape aboard an escape pod headed towards Tatooine. Bail Organa claims young Leia to be his own child. After arriving on Tatooine, Obi-Wan requests that Owen and Beru Lars take care of young Luke.

Obi-Wan tells Owen and Beru that Anakin died fighting in the Clone Wars. Understandably, Owen blames the Jedi for Anakin’s fate stating that the Jedi never should have taken Anakin from Tatooine in the first place. Owen and Beru decide to raise young Luke as their own child and seek to never see Obi-Wan again. Obi-Wan now goes by the name Ben and stays close by to watch Luke grow up. Meanwhile, Yoda hides on Dagobah and the rest of the Jedi scatter all throughout the galaxy trying to avoid the Imperial onslaught. Episode 3 ends on the bridge of a star destroyer where Palpatine and Vader are seen standing and preparing to hunt down the remaining Jedi Knights.

I don't see how
Spoiler:
Padme could die giving birth to the twins
when Leia says
Spoiler:
she remember her mother, but that she died "when I was very young" in ROTJ.

Other than that, the rest of the post sounds believable and would make an awesome movie IMO.

there are a lot of different theories on that. one would be that Leia remembered Bail Organa's wife on Aalderan and not her real mother Padme, another one would be that the force allowed her to remember Padme though if that is the case Luke should as well. maybe it's a woman's intuition thing

I say it's either
Spoiler:
padme doesn't die
or Lucas will edit that line out of ROTJ. It would just be too far-fetched otherwise IMO.

I really hope Lucas doesn't do that. Hopefully he'll find a way around it, or can work it in somehow, JH.

I like darthmaul's theories!! I'm such a SW nerd, and I've come up with all sorts of plots/themes/etc. on my own as well -- it's fun to wonder what can happen and the best is it could be better than any of us could hypothesize.

Still, my one hope is that we don't see Vader until the end, full body suit and all. I know a lot of people out there think it's dumb to have it this way since "everyone already knows who he is" and all that stuff, but for the sake of congruity and story-telling, I would love it if the audience was supposed to think Anakin was dead. Whatever, just my fanboy fantasy - I won't be mad or sad if it doesn't happen.

So much promise for this film. I can only hope they do it right. There's a lot of story to tell, and 2 hours in which to tell it.

I think the solution is simple.

Spoiler:
Fake Padme's death so they can still tell Anakin he was responsible (furthering his decent to the dark side), and also leave intact Leia's lines in ROTJ. Also, Anakin could be led to belive that the babies died unborn as well, which would explain why he wasn't searching for his child (obviously didn't know they were twins as he didn't know about Leia until ROTJ) until ESB.

You guys are leaving out the whole jedi ghost angle. I personally think Anakin discovers how to do it before he turns. Hence the line "I will even learn to stop people from dying"

But Padme's not a jedi, so it's not really relevant here.

i'm thinking that comes more into play when

I think that revelation will come to him, Obi-Wan, and Yoda all at the same time since they all know how to do it.

Or, I guess it could just happen in front of Obi-Wan, who then tells Yoda.

I'm not putting this stuff in "spoilers" -- this is all fan speculation so far. Can't wait til it's not!!

i think lucas could probably get around the whole
Spoiler:
padme dieing
thing without really having to alter jedi.

basically:

Spoiler:
all he needs to do is have leia end up with some other motherly figure and it will explain itself away. i mean, she will be an infant in episode 3, so will she really know who her real mother is?
