Led Zep fans question...remastered vs original release CDs
How can you tell the difference between the old original release of the Led Zeppelin albums on CD and the newer remastered ones.
If it says "Digitally remastered from the original master tapes
by Jimmy Page and George Marino at Sterling Sound" is that the remastered? Seems like it would be so but unlike some other artist's re-releases, the Led Zep ones don't have any big "REMASTERED" moniker anywhere or any additional tracks...just wondering so I can tell the difference when buying them (usually pick them up secondhand, I know brand new ones would probably be the remasters).

i think it's an audiophile for the most part.
there were small problems with the original cd releases, and sound was muddy at times. the remasters are somewhat louder, and better transfers, i guess.

Yes, the remasters were done by Page and Marino. The original CDs were mastered by Barry Diament. The easiest way to tell the difference for most of the CDs is to look at the CD 'spine' where the artist, album title and catalog number are listed. All of the old CDs have white spines with generic red or blue lettering except for Led Zep IV. The new ones are all different and are more in line with the artwork of the albums.
