Elbow 'Cast of Thousands'
Even though it's not scheduled for release in the states until mid January 2004. I was wondering if any US fans of the band have picked up the import and what your thoughts are of the latest album, from the few reviews I have read they are extremely positive. Might cave and buy the album from CD-Wow, but would like to hear a few more comments, anyone?

The only song I've heard from the new album is "I've Got Your Number" - which didn't really impress me too much - I like mellow, melancholy stuff, but just found it a bit dull... I'm listening to it now infact, and it's managed to fade completely into the background.
However, I wasn't overly impressed with the first album either - I went in with high hopes. I really wanted to like it, but I just never listen to it anymore. I know it's always described as beautiful, haunting music, but god it's just BORING... hehe
I should really stop reading NME reviews... apparantly there is some kind of revolution going on where every album receives 9/10 and will change the way you think about music... FOREVER!
(I realise no one else is going to respond to this post, so I just want to add I'm really enjoying the new Muse album, Absolution - sounds like a rock opera would sound, if anybody ever wrote a good rock opera)

I'm also interested in the new elbow CD, hope someone will compare it with other similar music. There are a few good tracks from the last CD, but it generally lacks drama, and goes a bit too slow at times.
The new muse album is indeed great. I picked it up along with the new starsailor CD. Unfortunately, the starsailor CD is a little disappointing.
I am now hoping the belle & sebastian CD will sound better...

I've heard the new Elbow CD and it's decent. IF you like their first album, you'll probably like this one. I agree, though, that it's pretty mellow. I think it's worth picking up.
I also agree that the new Starsailor album is disappointing. It seemed to be lacking all of the things that made me enjoy the first album. I've only listened through it once, though. Maybe it'll grow on me.
I think it's kind of hard to turn down the option of picking up imports from CD-Wow. In the past I've spent closer to $30 to pick up UK imports before they were released here.
