LOTR: sore butt edition locations

Ok.. so here are the locations:

http://www.chud.com:/

People have been saying that the Lord of the Rings trilogy is really one long movie split into three parts. Now it's time for them to put their money where their mouths are, as the theaters for the Extended Edition Marathon have been announced. Well, they should be putting their asses where their mouths are in this case, but that just sounds disturbing.

If you like Lord of the Rings and have an internet connection you surely already know that the Extended Editions of the first two films will be briefly hitting theaters in December - the 5th to the 11th for Fellowship, the 12th to the 15th for the Two Towers. And then for those with true stamina and probably a collection of replica swords and hobbit feet, the two Extended Editions will play in a marathon on Tuesday December 16th - leading up to the midnight premiere of the Return of the King. This is not only a great way for New Line to milk a couple of bucks out of these movies, it's like a love letter to fans, who go Orcshit for this kind of stuff.

The list of theaters showing these is fairly slim , and I bet you that most of these screenings will sell out toot sweet when tickets go on sale on October 9. So get yourself ready and buy yourself a rubber hemorroid donut and a supply of Lembas bread if your city is listed below:

Columbus, GA...my girlfriend lives there, so we will CERTAINLY attempt to get these tix...I wonder if it's any coincidence that Carmike is also based there (as far as I know...).

So, the next question: are these tix bought at the box office, or somewhere else? Thanks for the heads up, BTW.

I will go!

... laugh at the line of people getting in, "Triumph the dog" puppet in tow!

Only two Illinois locations, neither near me... not in the least bit surprised... oh well, I can watch UNDERWORLD any time I want.

any word on whether or not NLC is going to have a theatrical marathon at some point that has the EEs of all three films in it? Sure, it'd be 10 hours long, but it would also rock! bring a pillow and a blanky and all would be good!

Oakridge 20 in San Jose, CA. Cool. That theater's just opening today with all the bells and whistles you can talk about. Yes.

I was thinking of just catching the individual EE's the weeks prior.. but if we can get some Dallas/Plano DVDTalkers together, I'm willing to take the challenge..

Reply here if interested, or send me an email.. once there's 4 or 5 people interested I'll open a thread for the get-together.

i can't do this..

i'd love to.. really, i would...

but they'd have to let me bring in a george foreman and a couple gallons of water, cause there's no way i'm living off of twizzlers, popcorn, snowcaps, and soda for 12 hours!

@ George Foreman. That would rock.

The simple solution is to eat a hearty lunch beforehand and sneak a couple JB&Js in. Theaters have water.

Do you really drink a couple of gallons of water in 12 hours?

Cool. At least one is in Louisville, so I might be brave and venture a 10-11 hour risk of blood clots.
