Fatal Frame movie update
News
Tecmo and DreamWorks Studios announce that both Steven Spielberg and John Rogers are working on the upcoming survival-horror game-inspired movie.
Following the recent news that Fatal Frame 2 will be released in November, Tecmo and DreamWorks Studios have today announced that the Fatal Frame movie is being fast-tracked. Steven Spielberg is currently working with writer and producer John Rogers on finalizing the script, a director is expected to be named shortly, and casting will begin soon after.
"I was attracted to the idea of doing a classic, old school haunted house picture," said Rogers, whose previous credits include The Core and the upcoming Catwoman. "By focusing, too, on cool Japanese cultural additions and different ghost mythos most North American audiences are unfamiliar with, we can do something unique. None of the rules about the supernatural, the characters, or our audience apply in the Fatal Frame world."
We'll bring you more information on the Fatal Frame movie as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, you might be interested to check out our coverage of the games Fatal Frame (known as Project Zero in the UK) and Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly.

I thought the game was pretty good for what it was. An interesting concept and story that was good for a game. Not so sure how well it will translate to a movie where they have to cram everything into 2 hours. Plus the story was fairly japanese, and took place in a old japanese mansion.
The game has some really sick parts, and by sick I mean gross(although not as sick or twisted as Silent Hill 3), but still really graphic. I have not seen the core or catwomen? To me the gameplay aspect of taking pictures of ghosts and the atmosphere made a bigger impression on me than the actual story premises, so here's hoping...
and yes, it is inspired by a true story.
