I really thought The Rundown would have opened in the mid-20 million range. That's gotta be a disappointment to Universal.

Re: "The Rundown"..... yeah, boxofficemojo predicted 29 million. I have to say I'm surprised it didn't do better too. The reviews were much better than I expected. Some were pretty damn fantastic in fact. I saw the film. Thought is was really good. Not great. But entertaining and one of the better action films in recent memory.

I personally hope that word-of-mouth keeps The Rundown afloat.

Glad to see Lost in Translation doing so well for so few theatres (less than 500). It deserves the success.

Word of mouth will really help the rundown... and I think I might see it again.

The list looks weird without seeing Pirates of the Caribean in it. I'm glad Rundown opened to less than $20 mill. I can't stand the Rock & his male boob implants, so I really don't want to see studios & clueless critics keep praising him as the next big action star.

Impressive take for The Rundown - I didn't think it'd do that well.

That is about what I expected from The Rundown. I don't know why people expected more than that. None of the stars in it are huge box office draws and it opened in an off season where movies typically open with 15-20 million for opening weekend.

How many screens did the rundown play on? I noticed here in vancouver, it was only in a few theaters. I thought that was wierd.

reason for success:

Now where is that "equal air time" rule?

How about "Tuscan Sun"? Wow! Look at that 'per-screen-average'. The best in the top 10.

In at Number 2 with $9.5 million from 1200 screens. That HAS to be deemed a success story surely? I didn't expect it to do that.
Maybe Diane Lane is atlast a boxoffice force!

That's a shame, because from all the good things out there about the Rundown, you're going to be hearing a lot more about The Rock Which, in my opinion, is great

Yeah, cause those few shots were ever so important to the plot.

I forgot to spoil the lines as well.. "Good Luck".

I doubt that. The Rundown will fizzle out to barely 40-50 Million if it even does that which I'm sure is a dissapointment. I don't think w/ the heavy press & large advertising campaign the movie had, that the studios were hoping to only make $50 million. That does not help The Rock being the next big action star at all. His next movie is a remake of a classic cult film in Walking Tall which just b/c it's remake alone, I doubt it will get rave reviews & even if it did big deal, this movie got decent reviews & that didn't seem to do much for it. Underworld got bad reviews, had NO big name starring in it, & it opened better than Rundown. And then after Wlaking Tall, the Rock is making a video game movie. So I'm really not to worried about hearing a lot more about the Rock. Also he really needs to just do a Vin Diesel & shave his head. That hair line is receding so bad when I was watching the Rundown I swear CGI was used to make the Rock look like he had more hair.

I heard about this at least 12 times before I saw the film. Did not spoil the movie in any way. Happened so fast anyway, if you blink during the scene, you'd miss it.

I think the Rundown will do better then 50 million, especially with the good word of mouth. No one i know has had any bad things to say about it. I think it will do far better then Underworld in the long run, at least. Regardless, i still like the Rock as an actor. I've never heard of Walking Tall, but then again i had never heard of the Italian Job either and that remake was great
