ACK! Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells 2003 re-recorded for DVD-A
I was over on DVDEmpire and noticed that Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells", in celebration of it's 30th anniversary, is being released on DVD-Audio at the end of Oct. (For those of you unfamiliar with this work, it became famous when a small part of it was used in the movie "The Exorcist".)
"Cool!" say I. I'm very excited!
That is, until I read the description. It's been completely re-recorded!! On top of this, during the "instrument roll call" the original master of ceremonies has been replaced by Monty Python's John Cleese.
I just don't understand why they couldn't just release the original recording, which was wonderful. They've done great DVD-Audio re-releases on material just as old as this (or older), so I just don't see the reasoning.
Sorry for the rant, but this is just so disappointing to me.
