i would have gotten to this topic sooner but i feel asleep.
Anyways, i'm not looking forward to it. People blast MGS2 for it's weirdo plot, but the plot of MGS was just stupid. The ending was pretty dumb too.

the original Metal Gear for the NES was not only good, but the best Metal Gear of the series. It made you think, man those were the days.

Ya, it made me think what a bad game it was Don't get me wrong, I have respect for older games and think most games today get ruined in the jump to 3D (See rel time strategy games). But the NES had some of the worst games ever....there are maybe 5 or 6 decent games, the other 2000 are so laughable that my friend and I sit and play them all night to laugh at how bad they are.

I'm looking forward to this as well. It's been over 5 years since I played the original, and I don't remember it at all, so it will be more or less like playing a new game.
I have to agree with discostu1337 about the original though. I absolutely loved that game when it came out, played the hell out of it. But when I went back and tried to play it last yeat, I just couldn't get into it. A lot of the NES games I loved just didn't pass the test of time for me I guess. I mean some did (like the Mario and Zelda games) but most just seem crappy. Same with the old Atari games. The 16 bit era games have held up fine for me though. I still play my SNES all the time.
I think it's just that the NES and before games seem too simplistic to me anymore, where as the 16 bit era games are the pinnacle of 2D gaming.

yes, SNES still is great...many good games ... NES games basically consist of jumping and punching and possibly kicking RC Pro AM is still great, and of course the Marios and Zelda.

Yep, you listed the few good games....rc pro am, zelda, mario, metroid was ok, rygar was average, punch out is cool, contra was cool, kid icarus is ok...the rest are blah. And thats like 10 games out of 2000+. Not very good odds. Go back and play something like Ninja Gaiden or Double Dragon....hitting punch and jump over and over gets really boring really fast IMO.

In the NES era they were still defining what a 2D game should be, they hadn't reached their peak yet. The 2D games on the SNES and Genesis are so much better. So much more polished, so much more depth. These games just give me no reason to go back and play the NES and older games very often. I want to play the cream of the crop.

I would assume they are trying to add some comedy to the promotions of it. if you recall the last one from E3 had a little side gag about Vice City.

The video. Towards the end, you see soldiers & Solid Snake doing a bunch of weapon disarms and take downs. Hence, guys fighting. The models are kinda 'thick' looking. Hence, beefy. The whole thing is stylised with odd colours and the characters in silhouette with the music sounding like a Shirley Bassey parody. Hence, Bond style.
