I just picked up this amazing book tonight. Was supposedly published in 2001 according to the copyright. Yet I have never seen nor heard of this book, until it was finally on the shelves at Barnes & Noble.
I just could not resist picking it up. Since not only do you get a detailed glimpse of the broadcast & the panic it stirred with rare photos from the time, the complete broadcast in text & H.G. Welles complete uncut-unaltered novel...but also a cd with the complete broadcase & interviews with Welles & others from 1938!!!
The most surprising thing was. All this comprehensive all in one info packed everything but the kitchen sink version is only $20!
It's published by Source Books...& is simply called The War of the Worlds by the staff of Source Books.
I always have been interested in hearing that broadcast & finding out the news of what really went on. I thought the broadcast would never be released again since it's 'old' & forgotten by many today it seems. The closet I came to getting the chance to hear it,was when I found an old 1968 release on vinyl. Yet since I don't have a record player. Never bothered picking it up(just yesterday, the store that had it,was now all out!). So the cd is the next best thing & I have this awsome book to compliment it. To cool for words.
So if you find this book somewhere. Pick it up,Highly recomended!!
