Star Trek Enterprise 09-24-03
Episode Title: 'Extinction'
Written By: Andre Bormanis
Directed By: LeVar Burton
Here's a screen capture from the advanced tape of the show, guess the name change is official:
Next step: theme song
The good: no B&B writing for the second week in a row
The bad: the plot seems to borrow a bit from the Next Gen episode "Genesis". (huh, Braga wrote that one: shocking)
On a mission to investigate an abandoned Xindi vessel on a jungle planet, Archer, Reed and Hoshi succumb to a virus that mutates them into a primal life form.

Good God, man, did you have to use it in the thread title? Almost made me wanna
So, Archer and Hoshi are gonna turn into, what, giant slugs maybe?
Jungle planet. They got caves in jungles?

First and only time, I promise. I find it insulting myself, but was just drawing attention to it.

Adding Star Trek to the title doesn't bother me that much. What really bothers me is the new version of the theme song. They just made it worse! The good news is that I have enjoyed the first two episodes of the new season....so far. I just wish Beavis and Butthead would be fired so they can hire competent writers to do the series some justice.

If you teach a pig to dance faster, you've still got nothing better than a dancing pig.

Cripes, first das insults me on Ultraviolet, now Enterprise. I'm gonna get a complex.

Fixed.
On a mission to investigate an abandoned Xindi vessel on a jungle planet, Archer, Reed and Hoshi succumb to a virus that mutates them into primal life forms similar to that known as Braga, Berman & Hammer. After figuring a way off the planet, they head back to terra firma where they quickly become network heads whose idea of "creativity" consists of entire episodes of characters rubbing each other down in a decontamination chamber and adding "Steven Spielberg Presents:" to every show title.

This MSNBC article starts out okay, but by the end I was just shaking my head and murmuring "no no no no no no..."

Yup, I was following along nicely until we got to the bulleted list at the end.
"Trek fans may stay for the thinly veiled commentary on society, but they come for the sci-fi action." ?????
That sentence was written by someone who has never once actually met a Trek fan.

I really disliked this show and barely watched it. This season I decided to re-visit it. I like the new direction it's going. Finally an atypical Captain with attitude. T'pol's boobies don't hurt either.

Wow. That may actually be the dumbest thing anyone's ever written about Trek, and that's tough. Brian Bellmont ... Brannon Braga ... yeah, it's him.

The name change affected my TiVo: Enterprise no longer appears as a program and the Season Pass won't pick it up. I had to program a Pass for Star Trek: Enterprise. This must of just happened today.

Thanks for the tip, Chew. I'll check when I get home.
Not that I would consider wasting a Season Pass for this, you unnerstand...
[Looking for Stephen Spielberg Presents...]

A quick check of my UPN channel revealed it was called "Star Trek: Enterprise."
Bloody hell! Thankfully they repeat the episodes on Sunday night. But geez. You would have thunk the Tivo would have caught the name change or something.
My To Do List was fine for tonight when I checked it yesterday.
Glad this isn't a good show or anything.
