Xbox Live Starter Kit Volume 2

What is the difference between this version and the one microsoft refers to on their website

Xbox Live Starter Kit Volume 2

I'm new to the xbox live world! and need to buy the starter kit.

Thanks.

The new kits will not include a free headset, and I think are being packaged with a different set of demos. I'd say get the headset free while you can!!

I'd wait to see if anybody can answer what games or demos it comes with.. though I'm pretty sure it won't be as cool as the free headset (which you'll end up buying later anyway for $20).

Wait just one minute....

Xbox Live Volume one is the same as volume two except for the games that they include.

Xbox Live Volume one includes demos of MotoGP, Wacked.
Xbox Live Volume two includes demos of MechAssault, and Tetris World Online. (Note: Target stores had some of these on clearence)

Xbox Live Volume three will cost ten bucks more when it comes out, but it will still have a headset.

Note: All of the new XSNsports titles will have a code for two free month trial of XBox Live.

Wow, how many version to choose from. I guess if I got fever 2004 i would get 2 months free of live, but I would still need the headset wouldn't I?

My bad!

I assume they dropped the idea of not including headsets then?

Yeah....but the headsets like 30 bucks

Since you mentioned fever (which I currently am enjoying). I picked up Fever04 from Best buy, and it had several BestBuy coupons inside the box (It said that there were $50 worth of coupons on the box). They were: $10 off a live kit, $10 off Links, $10 off Top Spin, and I think two more (I'll check which tonight).

So you could get fever use the two months trial first, then add $10 off the live kit (with the headset), and get 14 months of LIVE for 40 bucks. Just a thought.

note: You can't use the two month trial to extend an existing accout.

Thanks GoLucky and Grougho, I may pick up the Fever 2004 game and try the 2 month trial, then at least I can try out the live system with broadband and see if it worth the $50 a year price tag.

I have Ghost Recon which is live enabled and that is a great game stand alone.

Thanks again.

I was interested in both the golf and tennis games aswell, Links 2004 if it is that one, is brilliant on the PC and should be very cool on the big screen!

Let me know what coupons you got in the fever box.

It might be $34.99 at Target; that's what every one I've found is. Still a great deal.
If Version 1

and version 2

are both available and the same price, be sure to pick up v 2.0, as it has a full game on it (Tetris World).

edit:
And just in case you're curious, here's what Version 3 will look like

It lists for a whopping $69.99, so you migh wnat to get a $50 one while you can.

The official Xbox communicator is available seperately, BTW

but it lists for $29.99, like almost every other official Xbox peripheral.

Hey thanks Decker,

I'll print those pics when I head over to target later.

I read that V3 of live will include a full version of Mech Assault and that is probably why the price is 69.99. I'll get V1 or 2 depending whats available at what price.

Thanks again.

Hey Decker,

Got the V2 Startkit for 34.95 from Target last night, they had it on clearance like you said, and I got Tetris Full Game included also.

Very cool.

Got to install it tonight.

Thanks again.

decker, let me know if you want to join a squadron for crimson skies. that's goes for anyone except people i don't like.

tell me about it; i've always sort of been a detractor for online gaming but xbox live has really turned my opinion around. if that kbtoys thing is happening, i'll be picking a ridiculous amount of games including espn football and hockey... poor poor wallet.

so I've had XBL since the first day. It's running out in Nov. Would it be better to buy another starter kit? Especially V.2 since I have been wanting Tetris anyway. Can I keep my same gamertag if I install another starter kit? How does this work?
