View Full Version : Should We Add 2 Sub forums?

All,

There seem to be 2 frequent kind of threads for each movie that comes out:

- A Trailer is Online for XXXXX moive
- Official Review Thread for XXX movie

Do you think we need sub forums for each of these, so you'll always know where to go to find posts on Trailers and to Discuss/post reviews?

Yes.

If we take out all of the review threads, the movie talk forum will be as good as dead. The reviews and comments on new movies are what gives this particular forum most of its substance. Anyway, what better to have in a "movie" sub forum than movie reviews? I see no reason to separate them.

The same goes for trailers too, though to a lesser degree.

I vote no.

No Geoff, traffic isn't that high in this forum

Too many forums as it is i think, more forums you have, the slower traffic moves in each forum, then you lose the interactive discussion and banter because a poster will post a topic, will check it the next few days but after that will generally lose interest in that topic but if there are replies, questions, discussion, the interest will be kept up

Hope that makes sense

If you want, have thread title rules

e.g.

TRAILER - XXXX movie

REVIEW (SPOILERS) - xxxxx movie

REVIEWS (NON SPOILERS) - xxxxx movie

DISCUSSION - xxxxx movie

etc

I'm with caiman. Nope. This area is "fun" the way it is right now.

On a whole different note, how about a "Luca$ bashing" and "Jackson praising" subforum? ;)

No.

I also say no. The movie forum seems to have just the right amount of traffic. Sub-forums would probably thin that out and kill all the movie talk.

no. don't gut the section since it's fine how it is. trailer forum will be slow moving as there is only so many trailers you can really talk about.

id really like a forum for movie reviews with spoilers (for those who have seen it) so that i know when i read a thread in the non spoiler forum its ok.

i dont dare click on a thread about a movie i want to see before i see it now because too many people arent considerate enough to use spoiler tags. i want to read non spoiler reviews to see what people think but i cant because idiots give away too much info.

Vader is luke's dad. :p

in most cases and films, there is two threads posted. one with spoilers and one without. just have to be smart on which one you pick. ;)

I like how things are the way they are now. If I see a trailer or review for a movie that I'm interested in, I'll check it out. Otherwise, I don't see myself actively looking for this information, which would be much less likely if it were secluded away in a subforum. :p

It's an old Charlton Heston movie. I've never seen it myself, but I remember the skit from Saturday Night Live....

I'd say Yes Goeff...but only to the Trailer sub forum.

I think it would be a really great idea to be able to go to one area and find links to trailers....or be able to talk about various trailers to flicks.

I think things are good the way they are. Everything is easy enough to find in the Movie Forum, so I say leave it be.

i agree, i don't think it's necessary. also, i didn't realize there were that many trailer threads....i guess i never really noticed since i don't read them (i'll see it when i see it)

It's fine the way it is. I'd go so far as to say the DVD Reviews forum should be put into DVDTalk. Actually, if you combined DVDTalk, Reviews, Movie, TV and Music talk, this place would really be jumping. There are people that post in some forums that I never see in other forums. It would really help the conversations really grow.

I like it the way it is now, with the occasional sub-forum for very popular titles like the Matrix, Star Wars, etc., films.

No I would not like a sub forum for trailers.

and not really one for reviews...

What else is left to discuss

I say thee nay. IMHO it feels like posting has really dropped here anyway in the last 6 months or so (again, that may just be my skewed view), splitting things up further won't help that much. I like it as it is.

no. I do not think we need to split up the forum or create sub forums.

I do like the temp sub forums when big movies happen.
