Do you know that R1 Lion King is perhaps the only one without dts?

Yup, first, I found out that R3 Taiwanese and HK editions will have it, then Koreans will have it, plus the Gift Set that rivals that of R1, then even R2 Uk will have a Lion King with DTS (DEHT mix)

What is wrong with the management at R1 Disney? Why do I have to order DVDs from other regions just to get the dts track?

Perhaps they are trying to maximize the video bit rate? This disc looks to be awfully packed, with multiple versions of the movie all crammed onto one platter. That strategy didn't work out so well for their Beauty & the Beast disc, which has significant compression artifacting. Throwing a DTS track on top of all that just eat up a lot of space and likely kill the picture quality.

If you look at the Korean R3 DVD details, you'll notice that it is missing the audio commentary, as well as the French DD5.1 track and second English DD5.1 track. That probably freed up enough space for the DTS track.

Castor Troy, a regular poster on DVDFile, has the r2 already and says it has no dts. Also, Amazon.co.uk lists only the dd 5.1 and commentary, Play.com list only the dd 5.1 and commentary, CDwow.com's r2 site lists only the dd 5.1 and the commentary... no dts mentioned anywhere. Looks like they dropped it.

Unusual. I wonder why most other sites don't report it.

That feature is also included on other regions, one being R2 in DTS

R3 has this mix also but not sure if the DTS track is a DTS track of the mix...

All of the known R3 versions will have the DEHT mix of DTS, and regular DD 5.1 (not DEHT mix). Taiwanese version will also have Chinese DD 5.1.

The Dutch version will also feature dts sound.
I got the press-release a couple of weeks ago and it stated dts.
If everything goes well I will get the chance to see the dvd within a couple of weeks at a presentation.

Yeah, but those screenshots are clearly from a foreign release. The 7th and 9th shots show a foreign language (possibly Thai?) as a audio and subtitle option, and the very first menu screen is a boot-up screen offering an option between an English or a foreign language menu.

What does DEHT stand for?

I hope the Korean disc has English DTS. Monsters Inc. had a Korean DTS track.

Disney Enhanced Home Theater. They remixed the original 5.1 track.

It's Hebrew, thus opening up the question of why Disney would include Hebrew language options on a UK R2 release.
