Action Replay Max for PS2

I just got one of these tonight for the DVD Region X player only to find out that my PS2 doesn't support the Region 2 PAL discs that the ARM supposedly enables. Anyone have luck getting this feature to work?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but wouldn't you need a PAL compatible TV even if it did work? Maybe it is working and it's because you don't have a PAL TV which makes you think it doesn't work. ARM may make your DVD player region free but it won't convert PAL to NTSC.

Aren't most DVD players capable of downconverting PAL to NTSC?

No, almost none of them are able to. Only a handful of players do it. Even when you find a player, depending on the disc, the conversion isn't always great. You can tell when you compare an NTSC version of the same video with a PAL converted to NTSC.

For PAL DVDs, I use a modded Xbox as it will do the PAL to NTSC conversion.

Action Replay shouldn't be advertising a multi-region feature when the PS2 can't even play the PAL discs that it unlocks. What a useless thing since PAL makes up most of the international DVDs. This will probably be going straight back to the store.

But the Action Replay does what it says it can do. It makes it a multiregion dvd player. It plays all regions. If you had a PAL compatible TV, you could watch PAL discs. That doesn't stop you from playing Region 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Heck Japan is Region 2 and is a major place to get DVDs. Asia/HK is Region 3 which is a source of DVDs. They aren't lying, it works. If you got a mod chip, it plays all region games, but that doesn't overcome the fact that you would still have the PAL issue.

It's not the fact that the TV isn't PAL, the PS2 itself won't even try playing the disc. It's going back anyway, but Action Replay really should warn people that PS2 has no PAL support.

Then you did something wrong since it will work. It's usually common knowledge that PAL and NTSC are different and conversion is not simple. I don't think it's their fault at all.
