Is SECRETARY the hottest film of last year??!!
I was at a indie video store, locally owned, and the clerk, one of them types Jeannie garafalo describes at "a They Might Be Giant wananbees who are also into comic books" , was trying to help me , so as a joke, I said I want the most sexually erotic movie that isnt a porn or them cheapo direct to video stuff. He recommened me this movie SECRETARY for rent. I said, "I doubt it can be as erotic as 9 1/2 weeks" he said "This film is hot! it smokes, it is erotically charged and the girl is one of the hottest thing right now (Maggie Gyllenhaal) in terms of looks and acting!" I said" I'll think about it, and rented other DVDs".
Question, is tis film that erotic? Is Maggie Gyllenhaal that hot? Or is the guy just trying to make me rent a mediocre film?

I saw it in the theater and it's pretty hot. However, it's also about a dominant and submissive relationship, so if that sort of thing turns you off, you might not enjoy the movie. It's a very unique love story. One of the best films I saw last year, as a matter of fact.
And yes, Maggie Gyllenhaal is hot.

I'm not into BDSM at all, but I still enjoyed the film immensely and did find some of the scenes pretty hot.

I have to disagree with Joshua (which is really weird because that's my actual name and I feel like I am disagreeing with myself 
)
Although I do think that it isn't a very erotic film as some have said. Maggie is hot and I love watching her, but unless you get off on S&M yourself, I don't see how this film is very arousing. It's a strange little film that I enjoyed watching, but didn't go ga-ga over like many others have.

Listen, seeing Maggie
has got to be the hottest thing I've seen in 'mainstream' filmmaking in a good long while. I'll take it.
That plus good performances, direction and writing yanked my crank. So sue me.

Secretary was a great movie! I will definitely add this to my collection.
I don't view it as distrubing because nothing was really gratuitious. I view Gylenhall as an attractive Woman but not the kind that briefly stop your heart when you first see here. She and her brother(Donnie Darko) seem to have an innocent persona that is likeable.
Spader was great. He has issues himself that he's working through and oddly enough the two seem made for each other.
Definitely a provacative movie that many should check out and see how it moves them.
