Benedict Cumberbatch *IS* Stephen Hawking...

...in the BBC's *sizzling* new TV-movie biography...

BBC to dramatize UK scientist Hawking's life
TV drama to portray Hawking's struggle

"In a world...
Where mysterious particles run wild...
Where you're only as hot as your latest theorum..."

I just hope it's not all sentimental crap, or a lot of us nerds are gonna be mightily ticked off... And who the heck is Benedict Cumberbatch??

I'm gonna sound like an ass here, but would anyone even know who Stephen Hawking was if he wasn't the handicapped guy with the voice box? I know he's supposedly a genius, but what has he really done? Don't shoot me, I'm just asking.

How hard can it be to act when you have a freaking voice box speaking for you -- clearly no emotion needed for the part.

Really! We all know how useless all other forms of expression are; that's why the motion picture industry has gone from silent films to talkies to the new audio only, wide-black screen version.

You're kidding, right? He holds the Lucasian Chair of Mathematics at Cambridge University, once held by Isaac Newton! You've never heard of A Brief History Of Time?

You haven't heard any of his Hardcore Rap Music?
http://www.mchawking.com/

He was also a guest voice on the Simpsons. He's got a pretty good sense of humor.

The first time I had heard of Hawking was when I had seen the video version of A Brief History of Time, probably close to 10 (??) years ago. So... Not too long after that, I bought the book.

I don't think my knowledge of him is only because he's in a wheelchair or because he speaks with a voice box, though I do admit, it probably gets him more exposure.
