Okay, don't choke laughing so hard. I have a couple questions.
Somewhere along the way you get some goodies from beating the castles, etc. One is a cloud and the other is some sort of odd music box. For the life of me I can't figure out what to do with them. Help! And is there any way to save your game? Any other tips or hints are appreciated.

On the NES, you can't save your game.. and this was a LONG friggin game.
The cloud allows you to "skip" a level or hammer bros fight.
The music box puts hammer bros to sleep for a few turns.

Uhm didn't this have like 90 levels? You couldn't save at all?!
Do you think the GBA version will have the ability to save?
Soooo looking forward to this on the GBA... less than two months! :)

Just to expand a little on what he said, SMB3 was included on Super Mario All-Stars for SNES. If you get that version, you can save.

Nice :)
I already beat Super Mario Advance 1 and 2, and 3 will tide me over until the end of October :D And beat means unlocking everything, too. For SMB 2, I beat all levels on save file 1 and 2 and got all the Yoshi eggs on file 1. For SMW I got all the regular and secret exits and all Yoshi coins, along with all Star Worlds and the Special Worlds (with all the exits and coins). I spent 2-3 weeks on SMW and I still like to pick it up and play through a level here and there :D
However didn't SMB2, SMW, and Yoshi's Island have save in the originals? So them having saves on the GBA doesn't really point to anything...
So they weren't kidding when they said 90 levels?

SMB2 did not have save option.. the japanese game it's based on "Doki Doki Panic" DID have a save option because it was one of the Famicom Disk Games.. that version also required you to take all 4 characters through all the levels (it saved which character was at what level). The japanese release of OUR SMB2 did NOT have a save either.. and was called Super Mario USA.
90 levels may be pushing it.. but it does have a lot of levels, and the stuff they're adding to it with the e-cards is going to rock.

AND.. the japanese SMB2 (known as "The Lost Levels" here) also had a save, since it was a disk game. But it didn't save what level you were on. Every time you beat the game it would save, and if you beat it 8 times you unlocked world 9.

Yes I got the e-Reader just for the SMB3 connectivity. I tried the games and it stinks having to swap so many cards. But for $20 it was worth it :)
Do you think we'll get the lost levels sooner or later in the SMA series on the GBA?

The Lost Levels was part of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe on the Game Boy Color.. although it was a watered-down version.

Searching for news about Super Mario Bros. Super Show, I stumble upon this thread. The Lost Levels was just released (as Super Mario Bros. 2) in Japan's Famicom Mini Series 3. They should come out with Classic NES Series International or something in the US which includes games like this, Mappy and Dig Dug that never came out in the US for the NES.

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for the GameBoy Color included the Lost Levels. It's an almost NES perfect port of Super Mario Bros. and the Lost Levels, so it doesn't really matter that it's not on the GBA.

Of course you could save your game. Just pause it and turn the TV off.
