Tivo Hack questions
Is there a limit as to how large a harddrive I can install to expand the time?
Right now, I have "old" Sony Tivo SVR2000 (the original Tivo I) with 30 GB HD. As I understand it , there's only room for 2 HD's. So is it possible to completely mirror the entire HD onto one larger one (like a 200 GB drive) and then just toss the 30GB drive?
Is it possible to upgrade the processor (if I recall it's a Pentium 90) to a faster one, or add more RAM so that the buttons are more responsive?

Tivo has a 137GB limit per drive, so don't get anything over 160GB drives (you can put two in for ~250 hours). You cannot upgrade the other components (processor, RAM). Check out the Hinsdale How-To Guide for the complete directions to replacing your HD.

yeah, you definately can upgrade the RAM. Not sure about the processor, though.

I would love to find something that speeds up the button responsiveness. That is my only complaint with my TiVo and I'm not using the IR Blaster either.
I have no reason to get a Series2 Tivo. HMO is nothing I want. All the menu grouping isn't something I'd want at this point. So my series1 does fine. Just needs a little "umpf" added to it

Series 2 processes menus and the sort much much faster. If it's 'oomph' you want, then the series 2 is the way to go. (I still use my Series 1, no complaints here!)
