Brazil R4 releases
Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone had picked up any of the Brazilian releases. THey have some anamorphic titles that we don't have here and are cheap as hell. Just can't figure out how to translate.
Anyone have any experience dealing? Translating?

I was looking at http://www.dvdbrazil.com which is in English. Pretty much all Region 0 there. Only looked at a few things..they didn't have much to brag about. I plan on checking the others.

I found, just as an example, Sopranos for 30 bucks...but I am trying to figure out who ships here.
http://www.dvdnow.com.br does not
Yet www.submarino.com.br does. I am using the altavista translator to help me out. Works pretty good. However, the address info is a pain in the ass. Won't take so shipping to the US ain't easy. LOL.

I don’t think that that combination is available anywhere else.

This Region 4 retailer states it's PAL and there is not the usual NTSC label running across the top right corner of the front cover.

They also usually make a mention of NTSC if it's present on a Region 4 title at MichaelDVD.com.au, but they don't say anything in this case

The Region 2 UK is also anamorphic and PAL.
Not quite the full cut though, which is why I've been mulling this one over for quite a while.....

Too many 'Brazils' in one sentence confused me

they few times i've bought from brazil I've used www.dvdworld.com.br they have pretty good prices and they ship all over the world. they send you an email (in english) for you to pick your shipping method. I've only bought one at a time, so I don't know how much it is for multiple dvds. the shipping through regular mail (air mail) is close to $10 US, which is a littke high but the prices are way better than some of the others mentioned. To check for Brazilian movies i usually used www.2001video.com.br since they have a section just for brazilian movies (cinema nacional) which is on the right margin of the page once you click on DVD. I think that it says in the retailer link at the top of this forum page that they do not ship outside brazil but in fact they do, the only problem is that for your first transasction they want a fax, or whatever of your credit card and an ID or something to that extent if I remember correctly. I'm not at ease doing that although i know that a number of different retailers all over the place do it. I think that they are a movie renting/selling chain in brazil (I'm assuming) so they are pretty legit but again, you make your own move.
For those that do not know this already and want to order, when asked about a "CPF" that's like an ID number. for what I understand is almost like your SS# except that is your ID# (such as from a license), I usually put 0s down. but it cannot be left blank. I do not speak portuguese but Spanish is my 1st language, and the two are very similar so if anyone needs any help let me know through here or email me, since I'm on the email at work constantly so chances are that I will reply within minutes.
hope this helped a little.

For those who want to know a little more about Brazil's R4 NTSC DVDs, exclusive or rare titles. I've starter a thread just about this matter on HTF. There you can find an up to date list of such releases as well as opinions from those who had experience ordering from Brazil. I'd be glad to try to help, if there are any doubts.
