Movies that were supposed to have sequels that never happened
So He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was just on. I didn't really watch it... it was just on in the background. I could never sit through it. But the end credits just rolled and at the very end, Skellitor pops up from the bubbling lava (or blood or whatever) and said to the camera "I'll be back!"... and he never came back. Probably just as well.
Then that got me thinking - what other movies did this and never made a sequel? I can think of another... Buckaroo Banzai (the adventures of) - at the end they flashed some text that told us to stay tuned for the next installment. That never happened either much to my dismay.
So what other movies proclaimed a sequel that never happened?
I think Bad Dreams did it IIRC. I'm sure alot of horror films did this and they only made one. You're gonna have to get in the way-back machine for this one cuz some recent films that did this might still make a sequel.

History of the World - Part I
The end of the film even had previews of scenes from Part II such as Jews in Space.
Yes, I know it was a joke.

Street Fighter: the Movie. Same deal, really. Bison sticks his fist out of the wreckage after the credits.
The Italian Job (first one, you Marky Mark-lovin' weirdos)
And I'm pretty sure Master & Commander, when it fails miserably, will never get the chance to make the sequels.
That's Clerks 2: Hardly Clerkin'. He instead changed that script into Jay & Silent BobStrike Bck and the (yet to be made) Clerks animated film.

Clerks 2: Still Clerkin'.
Although Smith said that it will happen one day, I kind of doubt it.

I think Cyborg was kind of a sequel to Masters of the Universe, or it was suppossed to be, then morphed into what it became. I don't remember the full story, has anyone else heard this?
As for the end of Transformers the movie, check out the later seasons of TV Show(not the new crap, I mean mid to late 80s episodes).

The Sword and The Sorcerer (1982) had a tagline on the end referring to a sequel.
But given the riveting and impressive performance of the lead Lee Horsely (who???) we were spared.
With a 21 year gap, it seems safe to say this is one sequel that will never see the light of day.

I caught the really bad Dan Ackroyd (sp. ?) movie: Doctor Detroit on TBS late one night, as the end credits rolled it said "Coming soon: Doctor Detroit 2: The Return of Mother" (or something to that affect). I kinda thought it was a joke but there didn't seem to be anything jokey about it.

I know they've had Batman sequels, obviously since there has been 4 movies. (Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman and Robin) But it always bugged me how at the end of Batman Returns, it showed Catwoman still alive, and I think she still had one or two lives left? But then they never brought her back.
